Guest guest
I know it's a turkey shoot somewhat, but you just have to keep researching until you hit the jackpot to YOUR OWN SATISFACTION. My wife Valorie and I made a deal with a local farmer (who we know quite well and also know his operation) for a whole side of beef which will be butchered within the next couple of weeks. You can get a few friend together and actually purchase a young heifer or steer and pay a farmer pennies a day to let him graze in his fields. When he's big enough, you call a butcher and have him do the whole thing and joy of joys, by the time your finished, it'll cost you less then if you went to your grocer on his best sale day. I figure this meat is gonna cost about .75 cents a pound by the time the dust settles. You say, "Yeah but you live in the country and it's easy for you". Wellllllll, just drive out to your own local country side and pull into any farm (these guys love talking to strangers, they'll chaw your ear off ;o) and ask who'll do the above for you. I think you'd be surprised. Hope this helps. Guest guest
All wonderful suggestion. I live in the country but just barely. Also call your extension agent and ask about local beef farms- then call them. We always get our meat as Dr. Ian is- we are lucky the bucther shop we go to also raises there own beef organically. Check local newspapers- ads this time of yr. are common. Also farmers markets and flea markets are good contact areas.(flea markets that of course sell produce- most produce seller probably are farmers.)And if all esle fails you could place an ad yourself.
