Dear Herbalists,

Quite a few have mentioned in the past that they have not been able

to buy Organic Food because of the cost.

If you are like me, there is a male husband

(friend/partner/antagonist) peering over your shoulder monitoring the

spending.

well - I came across this interesting titbit written by Dr. Robert

Rountree in October's Great Life magazine..(greatlifemag.com)

" Why the Prostrat Gland Enlarges

As men age, blood levels of testosterone gradually drop, while

estrogen levels increase. Simultaneously, the remaining testosterone is

converted into increasingly high levels of its active form,

dihydotestosterone of DHT. The combination of high levels of DHT and

increased estrogen STIMULATES THE GROWTH OF PROSTRATE TISSUE (my caps).

An enzyme found in the prostate, 5 alpha reductase, converts

testosterone into DHT. It appears that agents that increase DHT do so

by directly or indirectly activating 5 alpha-reductase. PESTICIDES

(E.G.dioxide) AND INDUSTRIAL SOLVENTS (e.g. hexachlorobenzene) are known

to increase the concentration of DHT.(!!!!!!!!!!! NOTE THAT!!!)

Elevated blood cholesterol, higher alcohol intake and a diet high in

refined carbohydrates are also suspected culprits "

So, me dears, just explain to your dearly beloveds that, whenever

you are buying Organic Pesticide free food, you are working to keep his

Prostrate active and healthy........THAT should make it easier

<grin>......................Love Penny
