Guest guest
Phew! That's is a bunch of snow. "Northern" Canadian style ) A helpful hint for your garden that I just learned from a Permaculturalist of 25 years which will help you to save your plants during the winter is to cover them with straw. Most amazing thing I ever saw. He'd lift up the slab of straw and you could see the young plant looking as healthy as ever but in a dormant stage. Hope this helps. Water here flows to the Mississippi instead ofthe Chesapeake. It snowed EVERY DAY from Thanksgiving to New Years. We are now under about 16" of snow, though it melted some today and itis snowing right now. The wind also blows almost constantly. 16 mileseast or west is without snow. Maryland is more than DC and Baltimore.I-68 even has warning signs for the "bad weather corridor". We movedto Western Maryland last year, as my husband is pastoring a smallchurch here. I had a lovely herb garden at our home just 1 1/2 hoursjust southeast in West Virginia and transplanted some of the plants uphere last summer. I doubt any of them are still alive as this is themost harsh weather I have ever lived under. I do thank you for yourencouragement. Blessings, Janet
