Hi All,

I haven't posted before but think the list is wonderful! I noticed a

lot of postings on thyroid so wondered if anyone could help

I have had an under-active thyroid since the age of ten when it

totally burned itself out from being over-active and have taken

Thyroxine ever since. I'm 31 and take 125mcg daily but still get

tired have a lower immunity so come down with colds and throat

problems during the winter and suffer with SAD during the winter. I

live in the UK so that's why I'm on the med I am!

Apart from kelp and echinacea has anyone got any advice to help. I

am just in the middle of another bad cold and am so run down and

tired and would be grateful of any suggestions/advice as every thing

I suffer with is part of the side effects of an under-active thyroid

which I hope to improve - I feel these are getting worse in the last

few years.

Mant thanks

Michelle

Michelle, I noticed the same thing with me until I started faithfully taking my vitamins and went off my hormones. I am on a progesterone cream that is really helping. Also are you taking it the same time every day? I found that was also a big key in this. I also take a vitamin be squirt in the morning that gives me a boost of energy. But this took me a while to build up to this. I also try very hard to not be sedentary. Even it means just walking outside and doing deep breaths and streatching. It really did help me. Sorry if I dont have anymore to offer. I am still doing my research.

DH laughs at me every night becasue he is always having to take my glasses of me and pry an herbal book out of hand every night. LOL

Hi Michelle

I also have an underactive thyroid and take the same amount of medication as yourself., each time I have felt like you described I have needed my dose increased.

You should not feel as rundown and tired as you do if you are on the correct dose, ask your GP to recheck your blood levels and also ask to see the results as some GPs tend to keep patients on the lower level of normal. Hope this helps JeanetteGet Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.

Dear Jeanette,

As this is an herbal and Naturopathic list, I take a little offense to referring another to a GP (only a little :o).

One of the best remedies to Hypothyroidism is the Total Nutrition Formula in the Files. An immediate fix would be a black walnut hull tincture which is very high in organic iodine and other bio chemicals. It's very easy to make yourself and would help immensely.
