Guest guest
Dear Herbalists, With my propensity for adding a little bit here and there, I have never made a salve with a Single Herb. I came across the following Salve in The Secrets of Echinacea by Winifred Conkling (an excellent little book by the way).., and wonder if any of youse who make salves think I should try to be simple and make it? Echinacea Salve 5 ozs of dried herbs in 1 cup of coconut oil (or olive oil) in an uncovered cooking crock and bake at 125 degrees for three to five hours. Stir every 30 minutes to ensure it doesn't burn. Strain into a saucepan. For every cup of oil infusion, add approx 1 ounce of shaved beeswax(melted) and 2 capsules of Vitamin E (to preserve the salve) Pour into small jars and cool. ..what do you think, Herbalists?. Winifred reckons this can be used on burns, wounds and many skin irritations.................Love Penny
