Guest guest
Hi everyone, I usually just lurk, but since you all talk " my language " (i.e., alternative medicine) I thought I would pose this question to you since my midwife is out of town. My daughter woke up with an earache last night & we did the sweet oil & heat thing which seemed to relieve the pain. Today I did a rush tincture of garlic & olive oil, put a few drops in her ear & put a cotton ball in. When I went to change the cotton ball, there was a little bit of blood on it. I thought I had noticed blood on the cotton ball from the night before, but I just dismissed it as dark earwax that had dissolved w/the oil. I've fought earaches on & off for years w/my 6 kids, but none of them ever bled before. I can suggest remedies for other people, but when it comes to one of my kids, I can't think straight! Any suggestions will be welcomed. BTW... she's only 4 years old & this is her first earache... which seems to be a precurser to this crazy flu-like thing going around. Thanx! Karen D. Guest guest
Dear Rene, The one time I had to deal with an earache with our son we used Echinacea Tincture and Lobelia Tincture orally and the warm garlic oil and it worked very well. My OPINION is based on what a friend told me when her ear drum was punctured by poking a Q Tip in too far. She said the pain was unbearable - screaming level pain and in this case I would think a bit of blood would be possible. Everyone's pain tolerance is different so it might be hard to tell if a slight puncture occurred with your 4 year old. Perhaps too much garlic could burn the skin and cause a bit of blood??? The echinacea of course jump starts the immune system so is a must and the Lobelia calms nerves and settles one down. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Another message for Rene: My granddaughter had terrible earaches when she was young. When she was 4 and had another one with high fever, I took her for an adjustment at a chiro's and the next morning the earache was gone and bloody fluid came out of her ear. The chiro said this was good and she actually got well, with no antibiotics, and I don't think she ever had an earache, again. The point here is she had blood coming out of the ear and got well, so if the blood didn't continue, I presume it is OK. I, of course, was alarmed at the time, but seems it was a good thing. Also, I used oregano essential oil on her feet and she got well very quickly, although now I would juice my own and use it in olive oil, probably, as I'm into raw stuff. Guest guest
Renee, Check her ear closely- she may have dug it where you don't notice. My little one who is 3 had a ear infection with blood herself- but after looking very closely she had pulled and dug the very inside of her ear and left a small sore. If this isn't the case- keep a close eye on it and if it continues I would suggest you have a professional look at it.
