Plumbago zeylanica L. PLUMBAGINACEAE Plant List | Next

Local Names: Chitaparu, Dhalachitaparu (Oriya), Chitamula, Langi sitapari.

Description of the Plant: Under shrub, stem spreading 1 m - 1. 5 m. Leaves ovate or oblong obviate. Flowers white in elongate terminal. Flowers in December / January. Occurs frequently in open places.

Healthcare Properties:

 

Abdominal pain: Grind the roots of Plumbago zeylanica into paste and make 2 g pills out of the paste. Take the pills inside the ripe banana. A single dose sufficient. (P-13) [OR-3-1-10] (or) Grind the whole plant of Plumbago zeylanica with 7 number of black pepper and extract juices from it. Take 2 teaspoonful in each time. Twice a day for two days to cure from griping. (P-13) [OR-3-1-10] Dental caries: Grind the root of Plumbago zeylanica to make paste. Apply 5 g of the paste in the tooth, which is infected for once only. (Inf-31) [OR-2-2-1270] Fits: Tie the root of Plumbago zeylanica on the arm of the patient. It works for one-side fits. If the right side is affected then it is tied on left side and vice versa. (J-11) [OR-1-4-629] Gout: Grind the roots of Plumbago zeylanica and warm the ground roots. Smear the paste on the gout-affected area and bandage will be removed. (C-2) [OR-4-2-190] Hemorrhoids: Grind the roots of Plumbago zeylanica with the bark of Rukuni, cow ghee, acasia oil and sugar to make a paste which is given in a single dose. The paste should be 10 g in weight. (Dhoba-11) [OR-1-3-468] Indigestion in child: The roots of Plumbago zeylanica are kept inside an amulet and tied it on the armpit of the child. (J-5) [OR-5-1-55] (or) Grind the entire plant of Plumbago zeylanica with 7 numbers of black pepper and extract juice. Then take 2 teaspoonful juice in each time for two days. (P-13) [OR-3-1-10] Labour pain: Boil the root on Plumbago zeylanica with water for 30 minutes. Give the decoction to labour pain. 50 ml a dose 2 times a day for two days. (P-13) [OR-3-1-10] Lumbago, Joint pain, Pain due to injury: Grind 25 g roots of Plumbago zeylanica to make paste. Prepare three pills out of the paste of equal size. Take one pill once a day for three diseases. (R-14) [OR-3-3-156] Otorrhoes & Earache: Grind the roots of Plumbago zeylanica into paste. Boil the paste with 25 ml mustard oil. Then the oil mixed with the paste used as eardrop. The heat of the oil should be bearable. (D-4) [OR-2-2-1341] Rheumatoid arthritis: Roots are collected from Plumbago zeylanica, Pulmbago indica & Plumbago sp. black coloured flower plants. Grind the roots mixed with ginger, garlic, black pepper, Kalajeera (Nigella sativa) and make into paste. Then the paste fried in cow ghee and made into pills. Each pill will 10 g weight. Administer one pill in a single dose twice a day for four days. (P-10) [OR-1-1-67] Ringworm: Grind the root of the Plumbago zeylanica into paste. The paste is used on the ringworm as ointment. (J-4) [OR-2-1-1108] Stomach swelling: Grind the root of Plumbago zeylanica with the whole plant of Ekapatri and black pepper to make paste. The paste is given to children for curing pile disease (stomach swelling). (D-11) [OR-1-3-468]

Other Usage's:

 

Abortion: Grind the root of Plumbago zeylanica and give the paste with water in one dose. 50 ml a dose (10 g root) should grounded. It will work for 2 months pregnancy. (J-4) [OR-2-1-1108]
