Hi, Susan. The local herbalist shop which has been in business for years

and is very well respected - in general says 1/2 tsp-1 tsp. 2-3 times a

day. I was told by one of their herbalists that usually when they

prescribe, the dosage in general is much more than what is on their

bottles. Also when I was having trouble sleeping, I was told to take 2

tsp. of a tincture before bed and if I didn't take enough it could have

the opposite affect. It really is hard to generalize (I would say

impossible). They also say their tinctures are stronger than most

commercial ones in this area. Also some if you take too little will

have a different affect than if you take more (lobelia comes to mind).

What I do with my own home made tinctures ( I probably have made at

least 50 since the summer) is start lower than the recommended dosage,

and then work up as my body doesn't need as much as some people. Then

there is the pulsing, and the monitoring.......I am not a clinical

herbalist, nor will I ever be, and when I recommend a herb tincture to

someone they have to research, monitor and pulse themselves and also

check to see how much is recommended to take in a week/month. Not much

help I expect............................Joan

This is under Dr.Shulze and Dr. Christoper formulas.

Then click the link Curing with Cayenne----- June

(I copied and pasted it below as some where having problems with the

files)

Doc Christopher's dosage formula is still the best I know of and I

use it exclusively all the time.

It's called the 150 rule.

Take a person's weight and put that figure over 150. Reduce the

resultant fraction down to its smallest common denominator and you

have your dosage.

I never go by age as that is too uncertain. You may have a six month

old who weighs 15 lbs or 30 lbs depending on genetic makeup, health,

etc. I would give these two babies totally different dosages though

I might start both on just one drop of a tincture.

Using the above rule, it would work out this way:

Baby #1 @ 15 lbs would get this dosage. 15/150 reduces to 1/10th

the normal dosage.

Baby #2 @ 30 lbs would get this dosage. 30/150 reduces to 1/5th

the normal dosage.

When it comes to babies and the elderly who are really sick, I will

test " one drop " on the patients tongue to see if there is any adverse

reaction first, and if none, will work up to the above formula

dosages usually within the first day, always monitoring as I go along

and increasing the dosage. I've given Cayenne to very young children

starting with drops and ending with dropperfuls to tremendous

results.

Hope this helps.

Love,

Ian
