Guest guest
Jamie, I really liked the letter form Dr. Schulze. He is very right when he says it's a choice we have to make for ourselves. My mother made that choice at 49 yrs. old. It's not easy to watch someone you love or know make a choice not to be healthy. We can push and give advise but that is all. My Mother made me her health advocate so her choice could be followed through when she was no longer able to voice her choice. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do- by telling the doctor she was a no code.He wasn't happy and neither where my siblings- but I was content knowing my mothers choice was followed through.(This choice was made long before she was to ill to think it through.)I think you always should try to help a loved one when they are ill- but it shouldn't be a battle and we should find some kind of peace in the decisions they make. Even with all that I still at times felt guilty- Dr. Schulze's letter has helped with that guilt.
