Hi,

My name is Linda Lane. I have been holding off until the weekend to have the

treat of reading all the digests. Hehe I want to thank you for all the

wonderful information I have been reading! You guys are so great!

I have a few questions...(hope you don't mind)

1) I accidentally got some wheat and have been fighting through a fierce

allergy reaction. I am looking for a way to lower inflammation in the

sinuses. To help open up the sinuses again, I steam them to get them

dripping and they do drip well...I drink my weight (hehe) in water...around

80-100oz daily to handle the dryness. I gargle salt water for throat

soreness. Oranges or orange juice (fresh squeezed) plus C supplements as

needed. I was looking for some good type teas I could drink and having some

trouble finding information for nasal inflammation...can you help (you

WONDERFUL people! .....And I love you, Penny, not just for your herbal

prowess but also for telling me about this group!) My diet is usually

organic lettuces, organic carrot juices, range free eggs, turkey breast,

some white fishes, and oatmeal, corn tortilla type chips (baked and

unsalted) that are supposed to not be genetically altered...teas (all

kinds), and raw veggies (all sorts). I find I am not interested in eating

food; I just eat to keep the energy from dropping its 20 floors...I do use

the lemon egg for calcium and follow the supplements/diet recommended by Dr.

Balch (prescription for nutritional healing) for hyperthyroid that has

showed its head when I foolishly used some OTC decongestants after I found

the local herbal ones had been changed to one with lactose (sob, sob), The

thyroid is now just showing some improvement...Its weird to wake up in the

middle of the night fully awake for a few hours, take a B-50 vitamin and be

fully asleep again in 30 minutes. I always thought of Bs as a way to " wake

up " -not a way to relax to go back to sleep!

2) Today was my younger son's bday and he asked me to bake one of my non

wheat cakes...I kept seeing the jokes about the chocolate...is Hershey's

powdered cocoa on the hit list or on the happy list (lol) ?

His layer cake was made of rice flour, guar gum, fructose, low fat butter,

bpowder from Trader Joes (no aluminum), sea salt, eggs and strawberry

extract (since I didn't have the fresh stuff). I used extra egg whites and

beat them until they were very fluffy so it would resemble a cake, hehe and

not just solid bread. Then over the top of it I mixed a frosting made of

Hershey's powdered cocoa with the low fat butter, some salt, a bit of real

maple syrup and cornstarch and lathered it all the places he wanted it. Now,

if I had had real strawberries to put in a mid layer, this would have been a

to die for cake hehe. They all just ate it up. The strawberry sorbet was

very good with it, too, they said. Are all chocolate powders alike? None of

us here at the house can use the standard chocolates that have lecithin as

soy lecithin is used across the board so the bare powder seems to be ok for

them....

Thanks in advance...the digests are simply awesome. I will so be looking

forward to checking them out each weekend (as a reward!) for having finished

another week towards my master's degree...and boy; I wish I could come up

with more energy! Hehe
