Guest guest
Dear Renee, I really welcome this list. I shop (where I can) at a Natural Health Store but sometimes I " cheat " and buy at Publix - tis good to see this list again. Lord knows what the bacterial that produce pesticide INSIDE the potato are doing to my body....Love Penny
Guest guest
I agree Jamie. Whats safe to eat any more? The only thing I know to do is raise as much food as possible at home. I'm in a good position to do that, but I feel sorry for those who are not. Even though we rent, we live in a cow pasture in a teeny building, not many would choose, but it gives a lot of freedom. Florida weather is awfully fickle right now. We are raising fish, rabbits(meat), 2 chickens(for eggs only), and right now in my garden I have mustard, lettuce, cabbages, turnips, collards, broccoli, and sweet potato vines. Everything else was killed by the cold winds and dry weather. Now we're making our back porch a place to grow herbs. Its the only way they can survive here. I feel we are doing the right thing for our family. Elaine ----- Monday, February 05, 2001 8:03 PM Re: [herbal remedies] shopping/avoid GE foods Does anyone know if organic foods might be GE? Guest guest
the new USDA rules prohibit GE crops to be labeled organic. however, this rule is not yet fully implemented... for more details on the new rules, a few websites...the first 4 USDA http://www.ams.usda.gov/nop/facts/overview.htm http://www.ams.usda.gov/nop/ http://www.ams.usda.gov/nop/nop2000/nop/finalrulepages/finalrulemap.htm http://www.ams.usda.gov/nop/facts/index.htm http://www.mercola.com/2000/dec/24/organic_standards.htm http://healthy.net/asp/templates/news.asp?Id=1505 but, as far as I know, GE crops up to now were labeled organic if they were grown using organic methods Joanie >Does anyone know if organic foods might be GE?
