Guest guest
> Hi there. I've been taking my husband's blood pressure/heart beat for several days, and his blood pressure is normal like always, but his beat is irregular. I am going to have to make an appt. with a cardiologist, but what can I do herbally? His cholestrol is ok, due to Lipitor. I > think the cholestrol is hereditory. He is my " soulmate " and I don't know what I would do without him, as many of you can imagine. > PS I heard of Hawthorn, but never looked into it. Dear Renee, I know I'm getting into this conversation a bit late (didn't check my e-mail yesterday) but I, too, have an irregular heartbeat and hawthorn does the trick for it. My particular version is an inherited condition called paroxysmal atrial tachycardia (PAT) in which one of the electrical nodes in my heart fires sort of a rhumba beat ;-) instead of the usual, more seemly rhythm. My grandmother had the same thing and ended up with an enlarged heart because it combined with poor nutrition, " modern " medicine, etc. My dad has it and took nasty drugs for years, got hideous side effects, and finally listened to me and takes hawthorn (which, not coincidentally, also lowers his BP enough that he doesn't need drugs for it). I put hawthorn berries in just about everything. I make the tincture by the quart. They make GREAT jam. Make the tincture with brandy instead of el-cheapo and you've got yourself a wonderful cardiotonic aperitif. The berries are tart like crabapples so they're good in pies and cobblers, too. Good stuff. Eat 'em every day -- the single best all-round heart tonic there is. IMHO :-) Oh, yes, since you're going to ask -- I take a dropperful or two of tincture every day (or at least, every day that I remember to) and add the berries to my diet wherever I can. Peace, Laura
Guest guest
Thank you for your reply. Do you know if Hawthorn tincture reduces cholestrol? I may try the heart formula, which has hawthorn in it. I am glad you are stabilized and better. Thanks again. Take good care. Love, Renee and Jerry
