The very strong ones are ones that look like the bark of the tree, they are not speckled or greesn, but are round or roundish. However, ALL Oak Galls can be used for the Formulas (see Mrs Grieves on that) The ones on the Florida and english oaks are hard, brown like the bark and can be tapped off with a hammer from the trunk or limb of the tree.
