Guest guest
Am wondering here--- since it is possible to create resistant strains of germs by taking antibiotic drugs, is it also possible that resistant strains of germs can survive natural therapies such as garlic, colloidal silver, ....etc. Does anyone have a definitive answer on this that they can back up with facts?? margill
Guest guest
I'm not sure about the colloidal silver as it is a heavy metal and could therefore over time possibly (probably?) build up its own toxicity. Herbs however beef up the body's own defense mechinisms so that the body heals itself as it was designed to do. The reason resistant strains of germs evolve is because they are being attacked by foreign organisms or chemicals rather than by a strong body with a strong immune system. They still have a weakened body to feed off of while they are mutating into a strain which can then fight off the "newest, strongest" and "latest" antibiotic. It is very possible for the resistant strain of germs to fight off natural therapies (I don't consider colloidal silver natural but I haven't made up my mind about it yet, more research to do there and at this time I don't recommend it or use it), such as Garlic and Echinacea if a person is living a lifestyle condusive to disease. If a person is kicking back a couple of six packs a night, drinking pots and pots of coffee, and thinking many negative thoughts all day long, then Echinacea and Garlic don't stand a chance. However, if a person is living a healthful lifestyle then the herbs will work wonders and the resistant strains never get a chance to mutate or even get much of a foothold. The proof of the pudding is the over 250 patients I have who have the nerve to get well and stay well ) I have to continually get new patients just to stay in business ) Love, Ian PS. Only joking about the "have to ...", there's so many sick people out there, I'll be busy for several lifetimes. Guest guest
As I understand it, the difference between natural and allopathic med's is that natural med's assist your body by encouraging it to fight for itself, making you stronger and healthier in the long run. Allopathic treatments fight for you, causing your body to think it doesn't have to work therefore, weakening your system. So, if a "bacterial/virus/germ etc." gets used to an antibiotic, it will mutate causing a lack of effectiveness. With natural med's the bacteria etc. would have to fight your body which can adapt. Guest guest
Good points Vicki. I'd further like to clarify the difference between Allopathic and Naturopathic. The allopathic appoach addresses the symptom rather than the cause and it is very successful in suppressing those symptoms. IE.. A person has a headache and the MD recommends an aspirin. The headache goes away so everyone is happy right? Well, I've used this analogy before. If the headache went away the person must have been suffering from an aspirin deficiency right? I don't think so. Nope the aspirin then becomes an everyday facet of our lives and eventually leads to liver degeneration and stomach ulcers not to mention the mental problems brought about. If you were to look up the root words which form the word "Naturopathy"in a good dictionary, you would find that it is composed of "Nature" (Latin: Natus = Birth or Cause) "O" (Old English: O = of), and "Pathy" which is Greek for "Disease". This means that a true Naturopath looks for and handles the "Cause of Disease". "THE CAUSE IS NOT NECESSARILLY THE SYMPTOM AND RARELY IS!" This means that the allopathic MD doesn't stand a snowballs chance in hell of ever curing anyone of anything. No wonder they had the US government make it illegal to claim that anyone can cure anyone else of anything. They know that their technologies don't work. Don't get me started on that one, I could go on for hours. Anyway, just wanted to add my two cents ) Love, Doc Ian "Doc" Shillington N.D.505-772-5889Dr.IanShillington - Mrs.Giggles herbal remedies Friday, January 05, 2001 5:01 PM RE: [herbal remedies] resistance to natural antibiotics??
