Guest guest
I apologize if this is not the right forum to relay 'animal' questions,,I have a friend who questions the validity of getting her dog spayed. She believes that this will mess up the endocrine system, estrogen hormones, etc. All I could find on the net was 'pro' literature on why spaying/neutering is a good thing! Thank you if you have any knowledge in this area. Dave Campano davecam
Guest guest
Hi Dave, We don't mind animal questions at all. I have a friend who is a top notch natural vet who frowns on spaying altogether. The whole concept is to put more money into the pockets of the vets and one more time, the pharmaceuticals. It screws up the hormones of the animal. I've never spayed any of my animals and they've all lived to ripe old ages as happy family members. Hope this helps. Guest guest
I guess the main reason dogs are spayed is that the owners don't want the dog to reproduce. If the owner is willing to take responsibility for caring for the animals offspring, I don't see why it should be spayed. Mind you spaying is definitely better than having feral cats and wild dogs decimate livestock and native species. (In New Zealand a number of species populations, including the kiwi, have been threatened by dogs and cats which people have discarded). Guest guest
I know what you mean Julie and there are a lot of unwanted children in the world too, but we can't implement euthanasia or mandatory sterilization without stepping on the Rights of Man. What I ferverently disagree with is the false information that animals are healthier when spayed. It's simply not true. I think the easiest solution is to just keep one's female animal in the house when in heat. It may not be pleasant at times but then again it doesn't happen every week either. We're only talking a couple of times a year for a few days. However, how do you keep puppies from happening? There are so many unwanted animals in this world; I wouldn't want to bring any more in.
