Guest guest
Ok, so I fibbed, just this last one. -Vicki Sore throats For painful sore throats, the natural antibiotic, usnea, works well either singly or in formulations, both as a gargle and internally in tincture form--40 drops mixed with water. White sage tea, 1 teaspoon in 1 cup water steeped for one minute, and mixed with lemon juice and honey, is very antiseptic. Green tea is another option, as it contains tannins (polyphenols) which are antibacterial and astringent, helping to eliminate mucus and reduce the infection. Herbal immune activators and antiseptic herbs such as echinacea or propolis are sometimes added, as well as soothing antiinflammatory herbs such as licorice or marshmallow root tea. Antibiotic tinctures can be added to this soothing tea base. exerpt from paper by Dr. Christopher Hobbs
