Guest guest
Excerpt from " Beauty to Die For " by Judi Vance: " TITANIUM DIOXIDE: Used in make-up, skin care and cleansing products, dental products, deodorants, and nail polishes and enamels. It is mainly used as a white pigment and opacifier in make-up and sunblock products. Its reflecting quality reduces the effects of UVA and UVB rays. No known toxicity when used externally. Not for internal use. " Perhaps one is meant to spit it out when using the compound in toothpaste? Personally, I would not put this into homemade toothpaste, as I indicated when posting the recipe. I have used titanium dioxide in home made skin care products and find it does an excellent job of providing a good SPF factor. As I break out in hives when spending more than about twenty minutes in the sun, I tend to believe that I am a good indication regarding the effectiveness of the product. It also does not provide any skin irritation - which often happens to me with commercial products. Perhaps someone on the list is tending to confuse a 'dioxide' compound with a 'dioxin'? That would indeed be another matter! ttys..........Pat
