Guest guest
Oh dear - that serves me right. I am a homeopath and the thought of having to explain what that is on a herbal board defies belief!! I suggest you go to www.homeopathyhome.com and look at FAQ. Maybe better read this. I am not trying to convert you lot honestly as I use herbs as well as broad spectrum remedies. The x and c refers to the potency and with the number how many times the Mother Tincture has been diluted. You take one drop of the MT put into 99 drops (for c) or 9 drops of alcohol (for x) , succuss (bang on your palm 10 -40 times) and that is 1c or 1x. You repeat that until you have the 6 potency so use could do it yourself if you have the herbal MT. What is Homoeopathy? Homoeopathy is an established and complete system of medical treatment that assists the tendency of the body to heal itself, thus reinforcing the body's own natural healing system. Homoeopathy does not just treat the illness; it has remedies for PEOPLE with illnesses. This is because with homoeopathy it is recognised that all symptoms of ill health are expressions of disharmony within the whole person and that it is the individual who needs treatment not the disease. The remedies used have no known side effects and are not addictive. How will Homoeopathy help me? Homoeopathy is based on the natural Law of Similars. It is the medical practice of treating like with like. Simply put, it not only considers and deals with the symptoms you are suffering from but also considers the other aspects of you - the physical, emotional and mental side of you, thereby providing a holistic picture. Homoeopathy is as individual as you. Thus, through a thorough case history we are able to make an in-depth analysis. Based upon this it is possible to recommend an appropriate remedy. Remember, somebody suffering from the same symptoms may not necessarily be treated with the same remedy as you because each person and their symptoms are individually assessed. Please note: Any information provided, whether on this site, in writing or provided verbally, is designed to support, not replace, the relationship that exists between a patient/site visitor and his/her physician. Is Homoeopathy new? Homoeopathy is a widely used complementary medicine that has been around for approximately two hundred years. However, the principles upon which homoeopathy operates have been around since it was first suggested by Hippocrates in the fifth century BC. Despite progress in modern medicine Homoeopathy has continued to thrive, even today. The main debt of those who follow Homoeopathy is to Samuel Hahnemann of the late 18th Century. He believed that human beings have a capacity for healing themselves and set out to prove this. His work of so many years ago continues to be vital and relevant, despite areas of progress in other forms of medicine. In its present form Homoeopathy has stood the test of time for over 200 years. Homoeopathy works in a totally different way from conventional medicine. Whereas normal medicines work against the disease and symptoms, homoeopathy works in a " similar " way with the disease and symptoms. The remedies used to treat sick patients are actually capable of producing similar symptoms and diseases in healthy people. The word homoeopathy is derived from two Greek words - Hamios, meaning like or similar and pathos, meaning suffering. It is a truly complementary medicine. How does Homoeopathy work? Homoeopathists observe the symptoms only as the body's way of showing that there is something wrong inside, and as a useful guide to the choice of remedy. Additionally, the more dilute the remedy, the more powerful is its effects. Strange as it sounds this is very much true. During illness persons body energies become upset and this often shows as tiredness, Homoeopathy works by stimulating the body's energies to become normal. The remedies used in homoeopathy are prepared in a most unique way from repeatedly diluted extracts from materials that include but to name a few: vegetable, mineral, animal. Herbs, botanical medicines including drugs such as morphine, cocaine and arsenic are used, also items such as sand, charcoal, common salt, pencil lead may also be used in potentised form in a state which is no longer poisonous. Remedies can also be made from particular antigens, for example, house dust, cat hair etc. if patients have sensitivity to these substances. The remedies are so greatly diluted, and in doses so minute that they have no pharmacological action. Sometimes the diluted remedy does not contain a single surviving molecule of the original substance. More energy goes into making the more dilute remedies and so they are more powerful. Less of a substance can genuinely be more effective. Homoeopathic remedies work by stimulating the body's own healing power. The body's response will depend on the prescribing of the right remedy in the right potency (or strength) and also on the body's vitality. If the body's reactive powers have been suppressed through long exposure to steroid drugs, or if the body's vitality is very low, then homoeopathic remedies may be ineffective initially. What can Homoeopathy Treat? There is no class of disease which homoeopathy cannot treat. Depending upon how much irreversible damage has, or has not, occurred, the results of homoeopathic treatment might range from minimal to spectacular. Do note however that with homoeopathy you can treat numerous conditions effectively whereas with other medicines you may not have such effect. Conditions such as allergies, eczema, arthritis, hay fever or some of the most common problems, other medicines may suppress the condition for a time but will not cure it. Homoeopathy can treat these conditions effectively. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com).
