Guest guest
Brambles are the leafy part of Blackberry bushes, sorry I did not know you were not familiar with them. Culpepper (from the 1600's) has them in his book only by the common name. He says that the plant has a lot of medicinal uses. I know that my baby had a bad odor to its urine, and after ingesting loads of blackberries this year (for the first time, and since baby doesn't get sugar, LOVED the taste) the odor is gone. I don't know what was wrong, but its fixed. On a farm list someone suggested brambles to feed to goats to stop diarreah. Culpepper also mentions this use. Guest guest
Rasberries and blackberries are very similar, but here in wales all I have ever found are blackberries. Culpepper had an aversion to Latin names as he felt that they excluded the common folk. I don't have all my herb books here. I am from the US and can't help you with anything as my Culpepper was borrowed from the local library and is now returned.... Brambles is a generic name for thorny bushes, so even roses can be called brambles. Culpepper specifies Blackberry brambles for diarreah. Sorry for not being specific. I am just too distracted sometimes. I know my goats back home love roses, and would chomp right into all the thorns. There are thornless roses now too but would they taste just as sweet? ) I just ran across some borage today, and got into some nettle in the process, but got a couple of blue star flowers to munch on for my troubles. ) I don't know how much train fare is but I have lots of new herbs identified that I would love to share. Herbs are not all that dangerous, if you have someone in person to teach the identification of herbs, it is the best. I am from the desert of Las Vegas, Nevada, and would love to take you all out and show you Green Ephedra, and Chaparral sometime too.
