Guest guest
Hi. Well, it's all easy so far. What could be more simple...just drink water and don't eat anything. Im kind of tired from the weekend as I had a couple late nights, but that's nothing to do with the detox I don't think. My tummy is grumbling a little, but it's not bad or uncomfortable. I've work today teaching English to elementary school kids which is pretty energetic and full-on and I've been to boxing class this morning for pretty hard training. I am looking forward to going home and reading and being still for a couple hours before going to the gym and doing some weights and running. I'll just play it by ear and see how much I feel like doing..as usual. So...so far, so good. I wander how my boxing friend is doing. It's her 1st time to fast so I think she'll find it more difficult. Although weight loss is really only a side benefit of fasting for me(for some, though, I understand it's the main reason), I'm interested in monitoring my weight loss. I have been very slightly overweight in the past, but now I'm not. I'm 5 foot 4 and I think my weight is around 58kg's. I'm also a little muscley because I exercise a lot. I don't usually weigh myself, I can just tell by my clothes of feeling if I gained weight or lost weight, but this time I bought a weighing scales. I hope for a little fat loss. I hope to clear a lot of lactic acid from my muscles from lots of exercise and become more flexible if possible. I hope for my skin to glow with health. I hope for my body and mind to be de-cluttered. So I'll write again tomorrow.

Guest guest
NOOOooooo, Doing water fast while working a job and going to the gym? Don't do it friend, water fasting is solely for a time of complete rest! It is the marathon of fasting and is not to be taken lightely. Your body is entering a hyper-repairing cycle, you're not supposed to be breaking it down with weights intentionally. You might consider reading "Fasting and Eating for Health" by Fuhrman before doing a water only fast. I believe what you are doing is a danger. I think you might want to stick with juice fasting for now, like a higher caloric program like the Master Cleanser, but I think boxing while fasting will keep you way too light on your feet. Blood pressure goes down, and so could you! Guest guest
It's a controversial issue about rest.I did bothresting for 15 days of water fastand working, walking to pool, swimming there for a couple of hours and then walking back during 21 days of water fastBoth were great, so I still do not know what is my preferencePeople do both waysJust probably need to be in touch with body/mind/spirit and follow it carefully Good luck with fasting!Ryan Carson <revcarson Sent: Monday, August 31, 2009 12:44:37 PMRE: Re: 1st Day of the water fast NOOOooooo, Doing water fast while working a job and going to the gym? Guest guest
Thanks for your opinion but I disagree. In past times when humans were unable to find food they would fast for days. They would also have to go hunting during this time. The body does not break down muscle or important organs in the body until it has first utilized the stuff we dont need. I've water fasted quite a few times, usually at the start of the season change. Between fasts I have a very healthy lifestyle and vegetarian diet. I do not think there will be a crazy amount of toxins in my body if I am fasting every 3-4 months and living a clean life. I have a lot of liturature on fasting already, especially from an Indian/yogic point of view and in all of it, it suggest light exercize and as much as the individual feels is right. When I'm going to the gym, I'm not making myself feel exhausted, I do less sets and slower runs. The emphasis is on listening to your body. Only the individual can be an expert on his/her body. So far, I feel pretty good. I can't really even tell a difference. I have to say that what Ive heard of master cleanse...I don't want to pump my body with syrup...how can it heal and rejuvinate if its got that sticky stuff floating around? Anyway, it'salways nice to hear other people's opinions!--- On Mon, 31/8/09, Ryan Carson <revcarson wrote: Ryan Carson <revcarsonRE: Re: 1st Day of the water fast Date: Monday, 31 August, 2009, 6:44 PM NOOOooooo, Doing water fast while working a job and going to the gym? Guest guest
The point I was trying to get accross is that water fasting is the marathon of fasts and people should work their way up to it. It sounds like you keep your body finely tuned and cleaned out, so you are more apt to know your body, feel things, and be able to take on a rapid detox. The average person who is relatively new to fasting should be considerered very differently than you, as you are far from the normal. The body was made to fast but in "past times" we had a very different diet structure, we were not bogged down with thousands of chemicals and poisonous substances. People will often feel very sick doing a water fast, and I don't think that was the case back then. It may be a very natural process but people really need to know what they are getting into. I too am very healthy and do regular detoxes but the first three days of water my body is extremely weak. And many people pass out. There is real danger in say a gym setting if you pass out and bang your head on something. In my opinion it is a time to nurture your body, not work it to the edge. And I disagree with your opinion on maple syrup. Syrup, sugars, glucose, what you may call "sticky stuff", but it is what our body breaks stuff into for our fuel. We survive on glucose, its not like it travels through our bloodstream and cells as a sticky and clotting syrup. The Master Cleanser actually provides some calories during the fast which some people will do much better with. And it is tons more easy to accomplish than water only. These of course are all my opinions from the research I gathered, to each is own, and each to listen to their own body.
