Guest guest
Hello I've done two 7 day fasts in the last year. The first was for cleansing and weight loss, the second was more weight loss as my body was very clean. I've changed my lifestyle and have gone from maybe 70kg to 58kg which is great. The first fast really gave my a boost mentally because the weight came off so fast and gave me encouragement not to go back to bad eating habits. Now I am very fit and healthy, vegetarian diet, a lot of exercise and only a few treats now and then. I plan to do a 3-5day fast, the reasons being to help shed the final 4kg, and to cleanse my mind as I've been experiencing some negativity problems which I believe fasting helps(personally). In the past I've done water only fasts, this time I'm not sure if I should do water or some small amounts of juices. My reasons for not being sure. I am a martial arts student being trained to be an instructor. Fitness is very important and to miss training for more than one day is not possible. Sure, I can push myself a little less than usual but I must continue my daily exercise programme..jogging, yoga, qui gong and dynamic kung foo (ish) style martial arts(very sweaty and demanding). In the past the first 2-3days have been ok training, in fact day 1 and 2 my training has been really improved by having an empty tummy...but after that Ive always been a bit worried about going further. Can anyone advise me? I know my body, im not going to push it until i collapse but is there any unobvious problems I could be causing to my body by exercising fairly hard while fasting?? Im also wandering...many people say your metabolism slows down when fasting and you COULD put weight back on very easily if your not VERY careful after fasting...would continuing exercising keep my metabolism slightly more raised?? Would I burn fat quicker? I wander..... Anyway, sorry, very long post! Basically, for me, water or juice with my active lifestyle. Continuing exercise routine , ok? Any secret problems I could be causing? Thanks
Guest guest
This information is dangerous and is a perfect example of why you need to do your own research from credible sources before you start a fast. Research has shown that the brain, heart, and lungs are untouched during fasting. Your body is smart... it depletes itself intellgiently. (Check out Shelton's works and some frightening WW2 research on starvation done by the Germans and Japanese.) Also, this person is ignorant of protein-sparing mode. And I would warn you about modified fasts. I am not saying practices like juice fasting are bad for you... but the protein supplemented fast this poster is suggesting has been tried before. But again, don't believe me. Check out the history of something called " Optifast. " Do your own research. Do your own research. Do your own research!!! (Sorry. I'm a teacher and I'm used to saying the same things over and over. ;-) I'm also very conscious of how a little knowledge can be a very dangerous thing.) Guest guest
Heya, I wouldn't d anything too strenuous while fasting. Remember your heart is a muscle. If you are eating up your protein you are eating up your heart. Muscles break and mend. Should it stop, you could end up like Terry Schiavo... Fasting doesn't mean no food. It can, but it certainly does not have to. Protein shakes can still be used... If you are going to exercise,. And girl it certainly sounds like you are, I would at least incorporate protein shakes into my diet. Something with low carbs. NOW makes a good brand either SOY or WHEY. I don't even use a blender, just warm water, which is great and not such a shock to your system when fasting, and it mixes up nicely. Hot chocolate if you will LOL Also, you want to talk about clean,.. I am taking Candida Clear, its like 8 bucks on ebay, cleans your liver, parasites, and intestines.... I highly recommend this... You may think you are clean.... But the little goolies are still kickin in there. It has ever herb in it that KILLS AND CLEANSES, these little wickeds out. BOY OH BOY DOES IT WORKS. Just pill form but they are encased to not open until they get to where they need to be. Just don't get too far from a bathroom and take three times the recommended amount. Is the 4kg clearly visible on your ass or is it in your colon? It is a weight you want to get to, or is it something you can visually see you want to rid yourself of? Flax seed oil is also a great product. It can have a certain strong flavor of sunflower seeds to it, but you can't beat it for omegas and the intense heeling powers. So go with cardio if you aren't taking in proteins and electrolytes. If you are taking in proteins go ahead and do what ya want, but listen to your body. If you feel weak, headaches, dizzy, something is wrong.... Heart palps, something is wrong.. Incorporate more into it... Its your fast you can run it anyway you like. My metabolism never crashes when I fast, but again I don't NOT eat. I am always juicing with veggies, leafy greens (natural fiber and cholorophil that kills and sticks to naughty bacteria (candida poisoning) I don't put anything inside me that will feed bad bacteria. There are lists of foods and fruits etc that do this... Google it... Guest guest
Jim, Thank you for your words. I was going to comment, but you have said everything I wanted to say. Well, I will add that everyone's body is different and every fast is different. I have fasted numerous times, various ways and various lengths of times. For a while I was fasting once a week and even those experiences were different. The body is an amazing creation. It is also an amazing communicator. We just tend to ignore what it is trying to tell us. So I will echo - do your own research, do your own research, do your own research! I have a book at home that I highly recommend. The title of it is escaping me at the moment, but I will post it when I get home. Don't let anybody scare you out of fasting OR talk you into doing something if you're not ready for it. The decision is yours as to what type of fast you do and what length of time you do it. Fasting is one of the most incredible things people can do for their health. When the time is right and you have the information you need, you will know what you need to do.
