Guest guest
Hi, I´m planning on a juice fast (trying water fast later) for max 30 days or as long as I feel comfortable with it, having never fasted it might as well last a few days. I tend to have this mindset of trying to solve all my problems in one fell swoop and have cought myself thinking that by fasting I´m going to kick my bad eating habits, quit smoking, lose weight, begin meditating and in general make a total turnaround of my lifestyle. And because fasting is supposed to give a clear mind and make one more creative I was also going to catch up on homework for school and work on a website project I´ve been planning. Am I setting myself up for disapointment? Would it be smarter to take it easy during the fast, possibly look into meditation but otherwise do as little as I can get away with at school etc? Your advice is greatly appreciated.
Guest guest
You might always be disappointed. Do whatever you can do. I did 10 days to see what it was like, then I did 36 days modifying a bit with juices. I would have like to go until I lost all fat, but I found myself adding so much I was not on a fast any more. Was I disappointed, no. I will do another fast in a few months. Concentrate on achievements and goals not disappointment avoidance. That said each mind works differently. Do whatever is right for you. There are lots of truisms, like it is better to try and fail than never to try. Guest guest
Thanks for your reply, I guess each step in the dirction of improving ones physical condition, and in general to improve ones life, can´t be a bad move. I´m currently relying on a book called Juice Fasting 6th edition, before that I read a book by Paavo Airola, that´s where I was introduced to juice fasting and the concept of fasting in general. Can you name any major benefact you experienced after fasting, water or juice? Like a better feeling of being healthy? Higher energy level after you started eating a gain? Better clarity of mind and/or creativity? Thanks again for sharing with me your experience, Thor , " Robert Ratliff " <bratliff wrote: > > You might always be disappointed. Do whatever you can do. Guest guest
Thor, I am on day 10 of my juice/water fast and feel great. I don't have hunger pangs, but am aware of the emptiness of my stomach. I am sleeping better and with the exception of the slight sensation of tiredness in my legs when I climb stairs, I feel energetic. I have lost 10 lbs in the first 9 days of my fast at a rate of about 1 lb per day. I am not trying to do anymore than I normally do when I am not fasting (I have a very busy life with a fulltime job, massage therapy school, performing 9 massages per week, the house, pets, temple practice................... I am even getting back into a stretching program and started a pilates dvd yesterday; but I am not doing any running until April 1, almost 3 weeks after my fast ends. Though I will start light weight training when I start eating again on 3-14 (oranges only that day). The major thing that is different for me in this fast from my previous fasts (this is by far the longest) is that my mental attitude was set for success and a full 21 days of fasting. There was no TRYING this was a fast of DOING. Guest guest
Thanks for your reply, can you go into details on how you do it? How much fruit and/or vegetable juice do you drink each day? What about steem baths or saunas? How did you tune your mental attitude, do you use affirmations or similar? Best wishes to you as well, and all fasters.
