Guest guest
Superbowl is the second largest turkey and junk food occasion of America and probably Canada too however I am on day 9 of Fasting. People who follow natural hygiene and don't fast are missing one of the lynchpins , miracle in fact, of health. I'm not one of those who will excruciatingly post every day of their fast. Here are some random observations. I turned 48 in January. I had to admit I was looking my age. Mucus was clogging up my sinuses again. Sometimes a walk in the night air would clear them. I was looking jowly and hit 210 lbs. Their were signs my digestive system was impaired with stools not being completely formed and gas. I had slipped 10 to 20% from my best diet with slices of pizza and bagels. So I started my fast on a Thursday. Due to committments day 3 and part of day four were a little too much but I got through them and the rainy Sunday I slept an extra 2 1/2 hours. Work gave me a special opportunity to do a longer fast as I am only working part time afternoons at a desk job. At church I become so constipated I had to run out of the church during the sermon. I have not had any shaky weak days like other fasts even shorter ones. Some mild nausea. Night seven I dreamed I was drinking an American beer and I swear I could taste it. I even remember the name Pabst blue Ribbon. Isn't that funny because I don't drink alcoholic beverages. Although I can't follow strict hygienic fasting I sleep an extra hour or two a day and when I come home I have a nap if I need one. Weight 209lbs down to 197 lbs. Now from experience I know that maybe 1/3 of that may be water loss but still. The jowls have tightened up. Its gotta be hard carring a gut spare tire around all the time for my body. Did I hear each extra inch of fat has 700 million miles of capilaries? The stomach is smaller. My eyes sparkle even more and I thought they did before. My head is clear like a fog has been lifted. Its like turning a worrier into a decisive warrior making daily decisions. It truly is Gods operating table as Bragg called it. Since I had the beginnings of a winter cold it seems to have stopped it although I've had a bit of a sore throat the last couple of days and expectorants still coming up so that says to this amateur that I can go a bit longer since I'm in relative comfort except for the whole wheat crust Superbowl pizza with asparagus and green peppers I can't order. I also had a lingering tendonitus problem in my shoulder that seems much better. I used to re injure it playing the violin however in day 8 I had to play the violin for a couple of hours and I was at the top of my playing skills which was sure a surprise to me and the shoulder stayed fine. Now I don't follow Sheltonite fasting of resting all the time but man what I'm doing must be good my skin glows all signs are a go. The raw fooding I've done must have helped the detox this time. I learned fasting from Bragg the Miracle of Fasting and it looks like stewed tomatoes when I break it, some raw cabbage and carrots and maybe a blended salad the next day to coax the bowels back into life. " Think of your many years of procrastination; how the gods have repeatedly granted you further periods of grace, of which you have taken no advantage. It is time now to realize the nature of the universe to which you belong., and of that controlling. Power whose offspring you are; and to understand that your time has a limit set to it. Use it, then, to advance your enlightenment; or it will be gone, and never in your power again. " Marcus Aurelius Mike

Wasn't sure I was that low but this morning confirmed it.So even if 5 lbs bounced back I'm a happy camper. I have another fasting tip for everyone. Many peoples feet and other extremities get cold when fasting especially here in Canada. Stores including hardware and even discount stores and drug stores sell little heating pads that you shake and provide up to 8 hours of warmth at a time. ( skiers also use them) Just activate one and put it in your socks or gloves they arent hot enough to burn anything and move them around to where your cold and you have instant easy relief. Simple but I'd never done it before and I'm glad I do now. Mike Ps to those people who think and think about it and dont do it surely to God you can go 24 hours without food to start detoxing with your first fast . Water only fast is what I recommend according to Natural hygiene. Those of of you who juice fast are putting great quanties of natural sugar and no wonder you're not enjoying your fast. In addition one of the greatest parts of the fast is after day 2 or 3 you're NOT hungry anymore. Not that you don't miss food as my email showed but you are NOT SUFFERING believe it or not. I am not suffering in Day 10 and my sore throat is 90 per cent gone. If you are juice fasting you will probably still have cravings due to sugar levels going up and down. DONT SALT WATER FAST IT IS A HORRIBLE MISTAKE. Your bottle will be retaining water and you need sodium in a normal diet but not sodium chloride. Everything you need for a fast is in your body now. The temporary ceasing of vitamins will not hurt you at all but if you use them on an empty stomach they are an irritant to the stomach lining not having any food to dilute them. I think one would just pee them out and waste their money taking them through a fast. For more info read Herbert Shelton on Fasting and Paul braggs The Miracle of Fasting. Can't recommend Braggs enough so heres a link to buy their book for like 10 bucks www.bragg.com to learn what to eat with recipes after the fast buy The Health Seekers Yearbook at www.getwellamerica.com which will give you a years worth of recipes and encouragement to make permanent changes.
