Guest guest
Hi, newcomer to your group and I hope you can help me as I am frustrated. I know that I need to clean/purify/detoxify my body, I am approx 110lbs over weight (though honestly I am not sure what my Ideal weight is) but I feel I would be very happy with myself at 200 lbs. About 2 years ago when I lived in Oregon I started seeing a Naturopath and loved it. I went on a Purification Program that lasted 6 weeks where I was not allowed to eat specific foods and had these shakes that contained all the nutrients I was not getting from the foods. Now I will be honest I felt great after the process and I endured all the ridicule from my coworkers during the time. That being said I want to get to that point again. I have made it a habit to go to the Gym first thing in the morning and play Raquetball for an hour, I have a good friend that joins me on this. I am starting to lift weights at least once a week but I plan on getting it to at least 2-3 times a week. Anyways, I am unsure on the Purification Process, I want to eat healthy foods, I want to get me away from all the bad foods, I ahve read numerous books and information on the Web and I completly agree with the fact that medicine in most forms is not what heals, I know from personal experiance that taking pills is not the answer to cure most or all ailments. But I get frustrated when I read that to do a good purification process I have to take some kind of supplement (be it pills or powder or whatever.) Why is there not a Purification process that says eat this and that and you will be fine. I can do that, but I really can not force myself to take thses nasty tasting supplements just to receive the nutrients that I ma missing out on. Let alone that I want my family to go through this eventually, and my daughter especially. I feel horrible inside for the immunizations that I have already subjected her too and I want to try and salvage the possible damage my unknowning self may have inflicted on her. I want to make sure she has the best healthy life I can offer her, and I know she wants her to Dad to be there also. So I guess I am trying to find a Healthy alternative to powders and Pills that can help me achieve the balance I need to purge my inner body to be healthy. Thanks for hopefully reading this and I look forward to seeing your comments and possible help. -Gary
Guest guest
Hi Gary, I joined this forum a couple of weeks ago. I´m pretty much in the same shoes as you although what I´m hoping to loose is closer to 40-50 lbs. But that´s not my main concern, by back pain is. I´m going to detoxify and thereafter start eating right and exercising. My strategy is following; go on a juice fast for a week or longer if I can make it. I´ve bought Vogel´s detox box, some detox tea and a juicer and am waiting on my juice fasting book from amazon. Then gradully start excersising and improving my diet. I'm starting with removing carpohydrates and dairy. I´m under influence of the bloodtype diet books and those do not recomend I cut out meat and fish alltogether. Also reading I´ve done on the web by former vegans also reafirms that a vegan diet might not be for all. But I´m open to becoming a full fledged vegan and I´m going to try it eventually if I get as far as mentioned above. I´m also gona try pure water fast someday although I expect juice fasting is better for many reasons. At leas I´m not ready for dry water fasting now, think it might actually damage me since the nutrients in the juice are needed to safely deal with exiting the toxins. I know you are hoping for some expert advice, someone who has tried this but that I can not offer. Only support and cameraderie since we are, like I said, in the same shoes. Concerning your daughter, you might have her try to cut out carpohydrates and increase fruits and vegetables. That might go a long way. A very good start for experimenting at least. But of course your best bet is to experiment on yourself and find out what works for you, chances are it will also work for you. I´m bias towards the conspiracy teory that carpohydrates are part of our diet not because they are good for us but because they are profitable for the food companys, wheat and sugar are super cheap to buy for them and are then sold for many times that. There are also strong evidence that milk is not good for you at all, they contain growth hormones meant for the calfs and those might contribute to high cancer rate in the west. There is also the discrepancy of hip fracture being almost unknown in the parts of Asia where milk is not part of diet, while hight in Scandinavia where everybody chugs down milk like there is no tomorrow. The argument of calcium in milk preventing calcium loss in bones seems not to be valid. Last thing I might ad, use visualization. Just after you wake up and just before you fall asleep imagine your body like you would like it to be. Try to feel like it already is (try to dream it). Then your subconcious (even some higher universal power) will stear you in that direction. Guest guest
You can water fast then juice exit. The exit is juice then raw veggies. I am on day 26 of my water fast. I have not fully detoxed yet. A water fast is a faster detox and repair and weight loss mechanism than juice fasting or the master cleanse. You are right we don't need milk. The dairy industry thinks we do. I think some meat is needed, but maybe not much. Read. http://www.beyondveg.com/ There have been no know vegan societies in history. Guest guest
I haven't tried water fasting yet, as I am a new comer as well. I have however tried the juice fasting and really like it. I have done a 3 day fast and a 4 day fast. My goal for the week is a 7 day fast. I feel really good putting fresh veggie and fruit juices in my body. After the frist day (which was hard, my body detoxing) it was much better. I am hoping to extend my fasts as time goes on and I learn more. I do however take a multivitamin everyday. My goal is weight loss and better overall health. As far as your family goes, if you start to implement fresh fruits and veggies over starches, they will soon follow suit. You can be an inspiration to them. Good luck and let us know what you decide to do. Guest guest
Juicing was the first thing that came to my mind as well regarding Gary's post. Juicing can get you filled up with alot of excellent nutrients because you are consuming way more fruits and veggies than if you were trying to just eat them. You want to have a good quality juicer for this, and focus on juicing vegetables such as carrots, spinach, and other greens. You can throw in an apple for good taste too. There is a big difference between water only fasting and juice fasting, with water only being the one that does the most work for cleaning out and getting deeper into the tissues. I base that statement on information gathered from Dr. Joel Fuhrman's book " Fasting and Eating for Health " . I have done a 10 day water only fast myself, as well as a 14 day juice fast. Both were challenging, and of course, the water only one was more so. But I think I cleaned out at a much deeper level on that one. Another good book on going through a purification lifestyle is The Maker's Diet by Dr. Jordan Rubin. I think if you focus on eating fruits, vegetables and cutting out all process foods, and only eat foods in as close to their natural state as possible, you will cleanse and purify over time and see great improvements. It is just really hard to always eat that way because of what is available in America. I have been " cleansing " since 1998--8 years now, and it is hard to do it 100%. You really do have to commit some time to a purification diet, and the best way I know how to get through it is to tell yourself you will be able to eat those other things LATER. JUST NOT NOW. If you keep that in mind, knowing that you can indulge later if you want to, you will make it. And of course, the best thing that can happen is that once you get to the point of being able to indulge, you realize that those foods are polluting to the body and so you just don't even want them anymore! That's when it gets nice. , " Christie " <cmarley99> wrote: > > I haven't tried water fasting yet, as I am a new comer as well. I > have however tried the juice fasting and really like it.
