Guest guest
The classic way of monitoring when to end a fast is when hunger returns. Being a diabetic I am used to monitoring my blood sugar. It dawns on me that the blood sugar release into the blood should decrease when all the fat is gone from the body and can be easily tested. Anyone care to weight in on this concept? Best Regards, Robert & Chloey Ratliff La Chorrera De Panama <*> <*>
Guest guest
I'm not qualified to comment on your theory, but I do know that true hunger could take quite some time. Most people never experience true hunger in their lifetime. I don't know your history with fasting, but please be very careful fasting as a diabetic. Especially water fasting. rachel~ , " ROBERT RATLIFF " <bratliff@c...> wrote: > > The classic way of monitoring when to end a fast is when hunger returns. > Being a diabetic I am used to monitoring my blood sugar. Guest guest
sugar spills into the blood because the pancrease isnt producing enough or any at all insulin. some peoples pancrease have been healed during long fasts. Guest guest
true hunger comes to different people at different times. I weigh 120. so true hunger will come to me sooner than someone who is 200 pounds. I would not fast while diabetic witout supervision. you dont want to play with your blood sugar. the brain needs sugar ( glucose ) Are you on insulin ? if you are, and dont eat ,you can go into insulin shock. How much do you weigh ? What is your fasting history ? There is a way to do this according to your specific needs that only a professional can do with you.. keep us posted .... jennie for Good - Make a difference this year. Guest guest
I have never taken medications. I have maintained my blood sugar levels with diet so there is no problem with fasting. Part of my reason for fasting is to give my pancreas a rest. Guest guest
Thanks that is good news. Part of the diabetic problem is not related to the pancreas. The cells quit accepting sugar into them. Fasting will help that problem also. I weight 212. I only take one medication and it is for blood pressure and I will stop taking it three days into the fast because blood pressure lowers during a fast. I have fasted 10 days 6 weeks ago. I have read books on fasting. I doubt I could find a qualified doctor that does not cost a fortune anyway. Thanks for worrying about me. I am trying correct a few things before I have to go on blood sugar medications. I am 66 years young. I should have explained before I am a diet regulated glucose intolerant person. I have repaired my body to the extent that I pass the diabetic test. IT took two and a half years of meat and raw veggies. But since I have been in Panama(1 1/2 yrs.) with all the tropical fruits, etc. I am not in as good control as before. So I am trying a new detox and healing method. Guest guest
I am not a diabetic. But, my wife was for 32 years (20 of which as my wife). Recently she had a kidney pancreas transplant. I know a thing or two about living with a diabetic and helping to manage blood sugars etc.. Since you are not on insulin, I would think that fasting would be quite healthy for you. One theory I have read about the onset of diabetes is that some folks pancreas' just burns up from years of eating (and drinking) high carbohydrate foods. That is a bunch of carbs come rolling in and the pancreas must kick into overdrive to deal with it. So, it's not an issue as simple as the intake of sugars. It's the simple, low quality, carbs. Many fruits contain these as do junk foods. So, I would imagine that regular fasting combined with the intake of lean, low carb, high fiber, foods would make the pancreas' job a lot easier. I have known several people over the years that started eating smart and who also dropped weight off that were no longer diabetic. I think the weight loss is a huge factor. Every pound matters. Once, when my wife was still a diabetic, she felt sick for an extended period of time. Basically, she lived off of a couple of cheese sticks a day. She dropped weight so fast one would think it dangerous (no carb intake at all). But, just the opposite was true. Issues like high blood pressure eased up and the blood glucose levels were easier to control. So, if I were you, I would move forward but, pay real close attention to how you feel and what your blood sugars are doing. Don't bring the bad carbs into your house at all. The thing about those carbs is that just a little bit will halt your progress and it will stay halted for a couple of days till it gets out of your system (that is unless you are big on the exercise). Once you get down to where you want to be you can reintroduce some of the carbs. But, remember, that is a slippery slope. , " ROBERT RATLIFF " <bratliff@c...> wrote: > > Thanks that is good news.
