Guest guest
Oh...I know exactly where you are coming from. Four years ago I had two upper remaining wisdom teeth and one lower moler removed. It was done under general anesthetic as an outpatient in day surgery. I too am a chicken and never thought to use meditation. If you can get yourself to an inner place of peace I find that helps. You must concentrate deeply and focus on something simple, I find white light does it for me. I experience the same with Tylenol 3 and Demerol makes me feel woozy and sick. Quite honestly I did not have too much pain and the pain I did experience I took Excederin Extra Strength. I hope the surgery goes well for you and that you are able to focus on meditation before and after. If you know any of your pressure points that would help too. I have TMJ and I would say that was the worst pain after oral surgery. Sincerely, Lor gypwytch <gypwytch wrote: Hi, on august 8th I'm going in to have my 3 remaining wisdom teeth taken out. I need advice on what to do to handle pain, bruising, etc., demerol does nothing for pain and makes me throw up, tylenol 3 just doesn't do anything at all, also I'm a " REAL COWARD " when it comes to surgery so anything that could help with emotions and nerves would be much appreciated. thanks- gypwytch
Guest guest
Hi, I recently had 3 wisdom teeth taken out. Two were surgical extractions, both on the same side. The lower one was horizontally impacted, the top was slightly erupted. I had a good experience with pain and discomfort. They used nitrous oxide, local anesthetic and IV valium. The latter really helps with anxiety during the procedure. (Time passes very quickly, and you are not disturbed by whats going on in your mouth). I took vioxx (COX-2 inhibitor) for 5 days after, and this made the whole week essentially pain free, and kept down inflammation. The first day and a half after surgery, I had some aching, but it wasn't painful. I also took antibiotics, for potential infections; this was standard procedure, and I felt it was worthwhile considering I had an open wound in my mouth for a few days. The most troublesome aspect was trying to keep the wound clean of debris. They stitched the flaps in such a way that it created temporary crevices. Guest guest
Hi. I've been working as a dentist for more than 14 years, but now I just work with chinese medicine. This surgery can be really discomfortable, but why will you remove 3 teeth at the same surgical act? Well.... If it's possible try to get acu anesthesia. It's very effective.Besides, start 4 days before surgery with auriculotherapy, selecting points that calm shen. I'd suggest HEART as local point, STOMACH and KIDNEY as Zang Fu points, SHEN MEN, EAR CENTER, NEURASTHENIA (AREA and POINT) and ANXIOUS POINT as specific action points, and NERVOUS SUBCORTEX as harmonizing point. Do an APEX BLEEDING to clear shen. Use both ears. Remove all seeds 24h before the surgery, and on the day, select MOUTH, WISDOM TEETH, LOWER and UPPER JAW, TJM POINT, TEETH & LARYNX PT,as local points. STOMACH, SAN JIAO and LARGE INTESTINE as Zang Fu points. ENDOCRINE, ADRENAL GLAND, SHEN MEN, TEMPLE, LARGE AURICULAR NERVE PT and ANXIOUS PT as specific action points. NERVOUS SUBCORTEX as harmonizing point. Well, after 3 days, remove all seeds, rest 24 hs (the ear) and then repeat it again. I'll not say anything about drugs. I'm not aware of your country laws. Be cool and trust your dentist. It usually makes things easier! Roberta PLEASE :::: If you have problems with blood pressure (HBP) AVOID using ADRENAL PT. (See auriculotherapy )
Guest guest
I had extensive surgery: slit from rib cage to pelvic bone and they played with a lot of my organs (: A lot of things helped me including Qi Gong; but what I was thinking of adding was a meditative cassette set that is entitled something like How to Prepare for Surgery and How to Heal from Surgery. I started using the first before surgery during drives to doctors and tests and by the time my surgery occured they were mood altering like using a drug. I just went to another place and was peaceful and unruffled: centered and happy. Guest guest
Hi Michelle...I have heard about the tapes but have yet to find them. It is surprising what we can accomplish through meditation. I am going to continue looking for those tapes. Thanks for your input :0) Sincerely, Lor michellec <michellec wrote: I had extensive surgery: slit from rib cage to pelvic bone and they played with a lot of my organs (: A lot of things helped me including Qi Gong; but what I was thinking of adding was a meditative cassette set that is entitled something like How to Prepare for Surgery and How to Heal from Surgery. Guest guest
Arnica montana is a good homeopathic remedy for any bruising & soreness & Traumeel is another one -- very good after any type of surg or trauma -- it actually has Arnica in the ingredients
Guest guest
Dear Kathleen, Do you have any Helichrysum eo? If so, then mix 3 drops helichrysum eo, 12 drops Lavender eo with 7 drops Peppermint eo (for pain) in 1/8 oz. bottle of your favorite base carrier oil. Mix or shake well. Apply to the outside of the mouth (or inside if your wish sparingly) liberally. This should help the pain, regenerate effective cell tissue, and help the bruising to be minimal (heli here). Remember that Helichrysum is great for bruising, scarring, pain, and cell regeneration. Since I've found heli I don't use arnica any more. I hope that this helps. Good Luck! Feeling really tired, whacked out. She couldn't get it numb then couldn't keep it numb and had to rush at the end as the novocaine was once again wearing off. At first she thought I was just " whining " then when she tested me (this was after three needles full) I saw her eyes fly wide open. SURPRISE! I wasn't numb! Guest guest
So sorry Kathy. Husband is a dentist and he read this and just shaked his head and said " Well guess they did not test for what kind of anistetic they should have used. " and walked away. Husband tests everyone coming in to his office. Everyone is different and heavens forbid that you may have had an allergic reaction to the wrong stuff. Since you did not say what was done to the 5 teeth he can not say what will help you. Hope recovery is swift if nothing else. Guest guest
Hey Barbara Thanks for your kind note. All she did (notice the blase` " all " LOL) was cut the gum line down. Surprisingly it's still painful. course it didn't help when me toothbrush accidently ripped out some of the stitiches. OUCH! Never mind, I think things are healing, but I'm just surprised at the slowness of it. It's not something I'll have done again in a hurry. ;-) Cheers! Guest guest
Get some Arnica homeopathy tablets. Take 4 every 15 minutes for 1 hour after the surgery, then every couple hours after that. The next day or two you can take 3 to 4 doses, if you need them. I had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled and had absolutely no swelling doing this. _______________ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger! Guest guest
Thanks for the suggestion. You would take these even during a fast? rachel~ , " Wendy Lynn " <ky_wendylynn@h...> wrote: > > > Get some Arnica homeopathy tablets. Guest guest
I don't think it would cause problems during a fast. They are small and dissolve quicky under the tongue - very little, if any, should get into your digestive system. >You would take these even during a fast? > >rachel~ > > > > Get some Arnica homeopathy tablets. _______________ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger!
