And please don't beat yourself up for being trapped in eating things you know are bad for you. The whole north american society is set up to sell you whatever it can and your health be damned. If Coke could it would sell itself as a breakfast drink. I remember when I was hooked on about 6 cans a day of it. Nutritionally unsatisfied is it any wonder we are always hungry. You know what traps you- It can't be in your house if it does. Your family should support you. If they don't they will when they start to see results. When I was a child my parents had to put locks on the kitchen cupboards. You're going to be swimming upstream some now, but eventually you will leave the Suffering Class of America ( Canada etc.) Hint I start all my fasts at around 7 pm after one last dinner of raw salad. By sleeping overnight I have my first 12 hours in my 7 am. Even the early little fasts I could tough out 12 more hours until a salad dinner again. When I saw results from 24 hours I went to 36 hours. Surely I could tough it out til the breakfast the next morning etc. I did them weekends so I could nap if I was tired and turned off the phone. If I was feeling good I went for some walks, if bad I sat and read these books on Fasting to remind myself why I was doing this when it sucked so much. Do something even if you disagree with my specifics because The clock is TICKING... THE RULING PRINCIPLE OF MAN PROMISE YOURSELF To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet. To make all your friends feel that there is something in them. To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best. To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own. To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. To wear a cheerful countenance at all timed and give every living creature you meet a smile. To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticise others. To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear; and too happy to permit the presence of trouble. To think well of yourself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud words but in great deeds. To live in the faith that the whole world is on your side so long as you are true to the best that is in you. whole book available for free http://christianlarson.wwwhubs.com/yfahtut.htm
Guest guest
I agree with you, Mike. I was extremely nervous going into the first fast that I did. The first couple of fasts that I did were 24 hours, after that I would fast from Wednesday evening meal until my scheduled lunchtime at work on Friday (about 36 to 40 hours). The last fast tha I was on I fasted from lunch on Wednesday until Friday evening, that fast lasted 56 hours (my longest to date). These have been a once a week thing for a total of 7 weeks. I feel better in the overall, I am trying to work toward a more healthy lifestyle, it has all been baby steps. I used to drink a lot of cola but I started to cut back on that this summer. I now still have a soda but it has to be caffeine free and nothing with Nutrasweet since there are many problems with that product. I did break the once a week fasting last week since it was my birthday (gave myself premission to be a bad boy) and I had a couple of Dr Peppers but I now found that they felt heavier and didn't really satisfy. I won't fast this last week as it is Thanksgiving but should get back to it for a couple of weeks before Christmas hits. I plan on doing a 21 day water fast in the spring. My wife doesn't really understand why I am doing it or maybe she doesn't want to understand. I talk with her about it and she will say that she knows that we need to eat better but one time I told her that I was eating 3 apples for lunch and she kept telling me that there was spaghetti to take for lunch. Maybe someday she will truly understand.... , " violinmike2002 " <violinmike2002> wrote: > > , " Wendy Lynn " > <ky_wendylynn@h...> wrote: > > > > Thanks, Mike. Guest guest
Probably not. My wife and most people would rather eat what they want and suffer the consequences. I had a coworker a couple of years ago who was very antifasting. He told me my stomach would eat itself or some such nonsense, that I would be calcium deficent because I'm eating very little dairy and suggested chromium pills instead to lose weight. I went to his place for dinner one night that was just past my fast and he insisted on having pork chops for dinner. I felt like I'd been slugged by later that evening Two years later hes fatter and not looking like the Picture of Dorian Gray he always looked like as the eternal prince and my results have spoken for themselves. Sometimes its results only and not words that convince if anything will. We are taught by our parents and its really ingrained. Over time eat more living food than dead food and you'll live. You know what I've found the first day or two are the hardest in a fast it actually gets easier in longer fasts with just a weaker day in there where I needed to nap more. Post fast my eyes really sparkle and I can see improvement in mood etc within a few days or so. One thought see if she'll read Braggs the Miracle of Fasting so at least she'll understand what you're trying to accomplish or Fuhrmans book on Fasting is also pretty good I hear. Fasting had helped with a coffee habit, now I just have one or two herbal teas a day, diet colas I completely eliminated which eliminated gastic reflux. Sometimes getting away from whats not good for us and knowing what its going to do for us helps us to make better decisions. I can eat this ( but maybe feel crappy for it later) Happy Thanksgiving Mike

They ate whatever they wanted until they BOTH got adult onset diabetes. The heart attack and quad bypass didn't kill him but bowel cancer 3 years later did. And oh the doctors took care of him. Yes they did. Right up to the morphine drip. I wish you better results. Life of course having no guarantees. Almanack, 1736 To lengthen thy life, lessen thy meals.
