Guest guest
Water for a sick world f this works as designed it should go down as a great hygienic invention. While we ponder and dwell ad nauseum on the perfect diet, a billion ? or more are either starving or living on a little rice or greens they scrounge and bad water that gives them diarrhea or worse. How fortunate we are to be on the winning side of our society. At least 2 million a year are dying in the developing world from typhoid and diarrhea. The life straw will purify water although it can't take heavy metals out of the water for about 3 $ a straw for 700 liters. It uses 7 different types of filters including carbon, mesh and iodine. Good for a backpacker or victims of natural disasters, it will even turn saline water safe although that would reduce its life by half. LifeStraw filters bacteria such as Shigella, Salmonella, Enterrococus, Staphylococcus Aureus and E .Coli. Heres a link to the lowband part of the site.( I have pokey dial up ) http://www.lifestraw.com/en/low/faq_low.asp#4 Test results available on site. Its not everything but its a little something to make the world a better place. Mike
