Guest guest
Hi Sherry ~ Thanks so much for your feedback; I really enjoyed reading your email - good stuf! It is really good to know that there are others who understand where I am at; this is what I was hoping for. I really related to what you wrote, also! I am going to be out-of-town for a few days starting on November 18, and when I return home is when I plan to start my fast. The duration? Don't know yet; will probably play it by ear, but would LIKE to make it at least 10-days, but we will see what happens. In the meantime, I have eliminated white flour, sugar, and meat from my diet; I strongly feel that these are 3-things that for me personnally, need to be kept OUT of my body! Not sure yet if I am going to be doing a juice fast or the Master Cleanse.....I have been talking to a really nice lady who is on Day 12 of water fasting - wow! Not sure I could do the water-only thing, but I do envy her committment level. She is drinking a gallon of water each day. But at any rate, I strongly feel the need to do a good cleansing fast. I have been putting way too much garbage into this body for way too long. Thanks for the kind words and well wishes; I apprecite that! :-) All for now JoJoSherry Hanshaw <sherry wrote: Hi Jo Jo, That is great that you are open to trying fasting. I was reading your post and it totally reminded me of how I was feeling about my weight and un-stoppable overeating when I came across a website on fasting. I was looking for a solutions since regular diets weren't working. After alot of reading on the internet and the library (fasting and dieting books) I was totally convinced that I had a food addiction. I don't know what other people on the board feel about whether or not you can be addicted to food, but I know I am. I started out first doing a lot of reading up on fasting on the websites like http://www.freedomyou.com and http://www.fasting.ws. Then I emptied my refrig, filled it with fruits and veggies, bought a juicer (what I could afford but not the best one), and started with a 3 day fast. My goal was 7 days but I actually made it 3 days. I then wait a few months before attempting another fast and set out again for a 7 day fast. After quite a few failed starts I got it going and went 8 days, the off for 3 during thanksgiving during which I could only eat broth and raw fruits and veggies, and then back on for 8 more days. That was the turning point for me and absolutely convinced me that fasting was the answer to my weight and junk food problems. I lost 30 lbs and even after getting off the fast I kept it off for a year until I got pregnant. I had to give up alot after the fast but the new fangled cute body I had was worth it. With each fast I commit myself to give up something permanently. First it was bread, then it was other fatty foods. I would eat good all week and then allow myself one day to have a favorite food like nachos. Well, I wish you well and hope you get alot out of fasting. There are a lot of people on this board and others who are way more experienced and knowledgeable than I am when it comes to fasting and I know you will get some great advise. Guest guest
That's great that you are already starting to prepare. To be honest I never prepare for a fast correctly. Ssshhh! I know better but I always tell myself that when the time is right for a fast that God will let me know and I just need to go with it and that's what I do. I'm on day 9 of a fast that started with 2 days juice and then into water. The first fast is the hardest I think, but it gets you wanting more. Sometimes it's hard getting started...I know I have had so many failed starts where I don;t make it to even 12 hours that I've lost count. It's normal though. I will give you a tip that helps me and is helping me now on this fast. My best friend Debbie! She is just a phone call away and when I feel at my weakest she talks to me which gets my mind off food and then reminds me of how good i'm doing.
