This is the morning of my forth day. I am glucose intolerant, but have not taken medicine. My blood sugar fasting went from 139 the first day to 76 this morning. I am definitely feeling different this morning. My head is light.

I took a blood pressure pill yesterday, day three because my blood pressure was 160 over 100. I keep changing my mind about the length of fast. This being my first one. I now wish to go seven to ten days. I eat mostly meat with some raw veggies to keep my blood sugar down. So I did not go into this eating the mostly raw veggies as recommended. I am drinking 3 to 4 quarts of distilled/filtered water per day.

What is the sign I need to stop the fast?

Robert,

The most important consideration I have found is to progressively improve your diet as you are approaching a fast. If you will slowly improve your diet and sort of gently cleanse your way toward the fast, the actual transition into the fast will be much easier and smoother for having done so. I have found this to be so true, so may times.

The second most important consideration is to keep my bowels moving, particularly for the first several days of the fast. I use Smooth Move herb tea, Epsom salts, enemas and sometimes a colonic at the beginning of a fast and then again at the end. I have also found that the poorer my diet has been previous to a fast the more important this cleansing of the colon will be in the early days of the fast.

My best pre-fast diet is fruits, vegetables, grains, fish, occasional chicken. No dairy, no wheat and no fried foods...

Best, Tim

ps, Keep us posted how you do Robert!pss, "Fasting and Eating for Health" by Joel Fuhrman, MD is an excellent book on fasting and is in most all the bookstores now, or they can order it.

In this book he really emphasizes the importance of eating right before you start a fast and how much easier this makes the whole thing.Robert Ratliff <bratliff wrote:
