Guest guest
I am a great believer in shorter fasting. I recently completed 4 and 2/3 days of water fasting.I would describe myself as a hybrid of Paul Bragg www.bragg.com and Shelton fasting.( best source The Health Seekers Yearbook www.getwellstaywellamerica.com I don't believe in master cleanse products, not big on juice fasting as some juices have a lot of calories and swing the glucose levels. Nothing being necessary in a fast except water and rest. In Sheltonite fasting one should be resting and not watching tv or reading but doing that all the time would drive me crazy so I listen to my body. On day 1 and two I could pretty much do everything even ride my bike but on day three and four I was weak so I did nothing further than walk to the bus stop and trundle around the mall. The morning of Day 3 had slept in four 9 hours and took an afternoon nap of 45 minutes . But day 4 was really a bitch with weakness, a temperate elevated and mild nausea. I took an afternoon and evening nap. I had missed my bus with another one in an hour so I slowly plodded the 20 minutes home. The extra part day took me overnight from the 7 pm when I had started to 12 noon the next day. There had been only mild tongue fuzzing this time as I had been fasting often but I had had an attack of stomach gas and gastritis due to some taco bell bean burritos I had eaten as a last supper in a moment of weakness. It waited until after midnight to start. It was so bad I couldn't sleep properly til 430 in the morning. What a way to start your fast. Damn you little chiawaha mexican food dog. Although I don't believe in drugs I desperately took alka seltzer. So into the fifth morning I went to the farmers market and started to restock my depleted raw food arsenal and by noon had my raw food salad cabbage with carrots , tomatoes and vegetables. Probably had too much but I was fine. I don't expect to blast off right away after a fast allowing a day to reclimatize but there was something I needed to have most of my energy back for an hour or so that evening. So an hour post meal I took another nap and by the late afternoon I was feeling better. I had gone from 212 to 205 lbs which of course will go up a few in the coming days but the elimination problems I had been having had stopped, and the next day I woke up quite happy something I hadn't been feeling lately. Now that I've bored everyone to death here's what I have to say. Fasting unless you have liver problems or on a pile of medications that should be watched is a safe and natural procedure that helps the body heal itself. A little short time deprivation and discomfort perhaps saving a whole lot in the future. Its amazing the medical community wants to discredit this ancient practice - and has succeeded. In a world where people want to eat anything in their sight constantly we are eating ourselves to death.I have found it is easier to fast then diet but have made long term changes to keep off over 25 lbs for years. I recently ran across two people I hadn't seen in a few years who have packed on the pounds. One had a grey completion even after a long summer. He was thinking of going back and doing yoga again. He wont lose any weight that way. I don't recommend anyone doing a long fast until they are regular practicers of shorter fasts IMHO. Hope there was something here for you... Mike Don't fear the Fasting also Dont fear any of these Bird flu things. THIS ISN'T 1918 We live far more hygienically these days with more access to fresh vegetables for rich and poor. Weak toxic people are most at risk with weak immune systems. You aren't if you are eating less processed foods with detoxing on a regular basis. Even if such a thing should come upon you begin a fast instead of stuffing yourself with Tamiflu or drugs and you will fight it off quickly . Guest guest
Im glad you said dont get a flue shot. i never do and I dont get the flue. My parents age 70 and 75 never got the flue shot and never get the flu. I know people who swear by the shots and they get the flue every year. I convinced one woman to stop the shots and she had a flue free winter for the first time in 10 years. FareChase - Search multiple travel sites in one click.
