Guest guest
Hi all, I started a four day fast. I have fasted before but, never for four days. I think about 50 hours or so is as much as I have ever done. I started with a diet of high fiber and raw veggies to get the pipes working. Now I'm gonna spend four days on a juice/water/multi vitamin fast. The thing is, I dont want to loose muscle. So, I will continue eating on Thursday. From what I have read the body goes after the muscle in a fast. What's the deal with that? Why does it not use only fat reserves first? Guest guest
Don't worry, your body won't go after your muscle in four days. Maybe forty, but not four. Good luck - Shari
Guest guest
your body does not go after muscle thats only after starvation takes place and it wont take place in 4 days and vitimins are a solid and not fasting . dont worry there are naysayers that say muscle will be lost. in the many articles and books i have read possibly 3 times i have heard of the muscle loss thing. it just doesnt happen in even a 30 day fast. go beyond your own hunger and then it will take place. for Good Click here to donate to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. Guest guest
I have decided to make it a five day fast. I went to the health food store today and bought a product called " First Cleanse. " I feel great. Not eating from time to time is awesome. You know the feeling you get when you go to like, Macaroni Grill? You know, the food smells good and you just eat the whole plate and wobble to the car. It's at times like this that I wonder how the hell I thought that was a good idea? Portions are so big at restaurants. It's way too much food. In fact, my wife and I have started splitting a plate now because one plate is enough to feed two people full. I asked the question about loosing muscle because I have been hitting the weights hard in the last two months. I dont want to loose strength. So worked out heavy about an hour ago and I lifted heavy with no weakness at all. In fact I benched more today than last week. Thanks for your comments.
