Guest guest
Hey guys, This is my first posting in this group. I joined this group about a week ago and I am trying to read all of the older posts since I knew they would have a lot of good information. I did a impromptu water fast for 40 hours and seemed to do alright during that time. I was kind of surprised that I wasn't more hungry that what I would have figured. Toward the end of when I was fasting I was starting to get a headache (I think mainly from caffeine withdrawls). I also noticed that after about 18 hours on the fast I had a lot of gas. I was burping and passing gas a lot. Is this normal? I have read a lot that water fast is something that only experienced fasters should do but I would figure it is okay for 24 to 60 hours as people are going back to solid foods after that. I want thank everyone who has posted in the past an gave really solid information. I also ask for patience and understanding I step into a new phase of periodic fasting. On last thing, my father's family has a history of heart disease and my Dad went through a heart bypass surgery just a few weeks ago. I had seen an article about the health benefits of periodic fasting and debated on it and my Dad's bypass was just another knudge in that direction. Thanks, faststart

Guest guest
So sorry to hear of your Dad's surgery. I hope his recovery is progressing well. If you've read some in the archives you may have seen some of us refer to "Fasting and Eating for Health" by Dr. Joel Fuhrman, M.D. He specializes in supervising fasts, particularly among those who have coronary issues. He has had many patients who have resolved their issues with coronary blockage completely with water fasting... Concerning the gas you experienced. I have experienced this on occasion while fasting and do not think it is anything to be concerned with... Thanks for joining us and we look forward to you future comments... Guest guest
Dad came out of it good. He should be back to work in about another week. I have only had the chance to read up on about 25% of the posts in this group but I have loved them. It is good to read about things that people are passionate about and that I have found an interest in. Once I get some experience in I will feel that I can truly contribute to the group. , Antwan Penn <esiasemanuel> wrote: > Hey, sorry to hear about your Dad. Guest guest
Dad came out of it good. He should be back to work in about another week. I have seen a couple of posting the book and will see if I can't find it at my local bookstore or I might try the library. I just want to make sure that I can do everything that I can to maintain a good lifestyle. After we get our tax refund in next year I plan on getting a heavy duty juicer and juicing periodically and possibly doing a 2 to 4 week fast. Starting with juice for about the first week, changing back to water for 2 weeks and then finishing out the final week with juice. Fruits and vegetables for a couple of days as I move back into a better improved diet. Does that sound okay to everyone? Or perhaps a little to ambitious? All I know is that over my lifetime I haven't treated my body right by what I eat and would really like to do the longer fasts to give my body time to heal. I have read others that say that they went to an all raw diet, I think is a little extreme for me. I might move closer to that over time but I have always been a big meat eater. , Tim Campbell <timcall@s...> wrote: > So sorry to hear of your Dad's surgery. I hope his recovery is progressing well.
