Hi everyone, My name is Lisa and I am from Michigan.

Yesterday I realized that I had not eaten and was not feeling hungry

so I decided to try waterfasting. Around midnight tonight will be 48

hrs. I have never fasted before, and not sure what to expect. I am way

overweight(90 lbs)and trying to find ways to lose it. Can anyone give

me some tips on water fasting to lose weight? I am also thinking of

going back on Atkins Diet after my fast is over ( Iwas on it for 3

months last year and lost 30 lbs). How long do people normally fast?

Thanks for any advice..

Hi Lisa,

Have you seen Joel Fuhrman's "Fasting and Easting for Health?" It is an excellent book on fasting and he most commonly recommends water fasting in his medical practice. It is in most of the big bookstores today and through Amazon.

I hope your fast goes well...keep us posted.

Healthy Regards,

-Lisa,

Welcome to the forum. From what I have heard about water fasting, you

may want to work your way up to that. Or be under medical care. They

are for the pros in the fasting world.

If you are looking for a way to fast a little easier you may look into

a juice fast or the Master Cleanser. Here is a good link.

http://www.humblebeehealth.com/en-us/dept_1.html

These types of fasts give you a little more energy, and don't loosen

up toxins so ferociously. With the Master Cleanser I was able to

fully function at work with even more energy than normal.

Good luck in your path towards health!

Hi Lisa

Im glad you are thinking of fasting. however fasting for the first time can be very difficult. your body has never detoxed before and it can be horrible. why dont you remove harmful things from your diet first. caffiene ,sugar, wheat ,dairy, artificial sweetiners, etc.and detox from them first before your fast and it wont be so uncomfortable. then you might tolerate a juice or a juice and water fast better. water fasting releases toxins very fast and you might not be ready for the severe effect. it could send you on a binge. As for Atkins, and this is my opinion. short term it works and long term it doesnt. its lacks needed nutrition from the diet that your body will eventually over ride and make you eat out of controll. i know someone who is now on the failing end of Atkins. Our bodies need fruits and vegetables for the vitimins minerals and live enzimes. and fiber. just eliminate the bad sugars and white flour products and you will get the

same effect without the deficiencies. Dont eat things because they lack bad properties , eat food because it includes healthy properties. remember cardboard is fat free. colesterol free. carb free. sugar free. but we wouldent eat it. so dont eat nutritionless food. a person can be 400 pounds and be malnourished. Change the quality of the food you eat and eventually your body will change the quantity it wants. Guarantee. a 90 calorie apple is better than a 40 calorie " health bar"..... I wish you success... this is just the road I took.. thier are many............... Jennie

What do you mean by the failing end? My sister has been on it for 4 years, and she hasn't gained any of her weight back.

there is a high rate of failure nothing is 100 % it is also not very healthy and the Atkins institute has even admitted it and is trying to modify it because they had to admit in court that it did not include NECESSARY nutrients to the body and people were getting defficient in other areas dispite weight loss. or not. any time a diet omits important food watch out. 4 years is not out of the woods. and I did say this is My opinion. not law

Sorry Wheat is not harmful its just something you wont be having while on a fast and if you are used to alot of sugar and bread you will have detox symptoms from omitting them . And when you return to eating whole grain wheat is very good for you in moderation.

Ah, but wheat is harmful. You know the plaque build up in your arteries from animal products? That is what wheat products do to your organs. Causes a plaque like substance and clogs your organs.

Besides wheat stimulates the same pleasure center in your brain as heroin!!! Put some peanut butter (another carcinogen) on that and eat it!

There is a great book out called "Grain Damage" by Dr. Doug Graham.

But wheat is not an animal product. I think, any food in reasonable amounts is ok to eat if you are hungry.

Read what I said again - it causes plaque LIKE animal products. Animal causes plaque in the arteries where wheat causes it in the ORGANS.
