Hi there

I have been doing some research and I think I have a problem with candida. I'm

sorry I haven't learnt the technical terms yet.

I have recurring thrush and think that this is a problem with my gut.

I have been taking acidophilus and live yogurt for a couple of months but it has

returned so I am looking for more ways to treat it. I have also started using

tea tree as a topical treatment for the symptoms.

I am going to see a homeopathist on the 11th of May and I am going to try to get

back into the habit of taking soaked linseed every day as i know that helps to

clear that gut of toxins etc.

I have been looking at the things you shouldn't eat and am going to slowly cut

things out of my diet to see if that helps.

Today I am going shopping and I am going to buy pitta breads rather than normal

bread and look for a replacement for the marmite I normally have in my

sandwiches for lunch.

The main issue I have is I don't eat meat so if cheese is off the menu and I

should avoid mushrooms (quorn is made from a mushroom type protein) then my main

source of protein is limited to eggs and beans, although I do eat some fish.

I'm not a huge fan of soya.

I love cheese and mushrooms. How much of a trigger are these?

I also drink smoothies every day to ensure that I get 2 portions of fruit... I

now read I should stay away from fruit!!!

This is all so much to take in. I am not very good at cooking and don't have a

lot of money to go out and buy specialist stuff or even salad stuff....

Please help!!!

Thanks

Heather

Chesse, mushrooms and fruit are not good for Candida. You might

be better off eating meat and not eating bread for a while.

Hi

Thanks for the info... I haven't eaten meat in 5 years and am really reluctant

to start now. I gave it up for ethical reasons and it is not so easy to go back

on them now.

Can anyone tell me why these foods are bad for it?

Because the Candida feeds on those foods. For more scientific

information, you can read the book by Gabriel Cousens called “Rainbow Green

Live Food Cuisine”. He doesn’t eat meat either, eats nuts and seeds and

vegetables mainly.

Kudos to you for not eating meat, but I can see that it will be difficult to fight the candida without eating meat. The meat provides almost no nourishment for candida so helps to starve it out :o). The key is not to spike your blood sugar, so any anti-candida diet is good for weight loss. I know of a person who just ate a lot of greens, onions, veggies, etc to alkalize her body. After a couple months of this she tried the foods that gave her candida symptoms previously and they did not cause the same problems. I think there is a way to fight the candida on a vegetarian diet and there are a lot of people looking for this. However, if you change your mind about meat the best site is www.naturallythriving.com. My friend Deb owns this site as well as the great group curingcandida@ They can answer most of your questions! I too would like to fight candida in a vegetarian way. I would like to avoid meat consumption on principle. BREAD IS EVERYWHERE! This is the key. No bread or grains, no sugar, limited or no fruit. :o) Thanks for joining the group! Kelly
