Here's what I think. I think just about everything we get taught by our derms is wrong. I have rosacea and have tried every medication at one time or another. I think rosacea developes because your body is attemping to detox through your skin. The more toxic the redder and mpre swollen it gets. Do you have flushes? They are also detoxifing. I have swithced to orgainc food which has helped some. I threw out EVERYTHING that went on my skin- no make soap, or meds, not even sunscreen. Recently when I wash my face or take a shower I do a hot /cold treatment one minute of each and the acne part has about disappeared. Another thing that has helped is flax oil. Udo's is what Doc recomends. I was kind of worried because I had a hormonal reaction to it the first time I tried flax, but this stuff is shigh quality and I haven't had any trouble with it. My goal in the next two months is to do a total body cleanse and add some more supplements- CoQ10, MSM, Niacin (lol), Vit E and I think there was something else. I would have done it already if it was possible, Ok I'll stop rambling. I would love to get some feedback on my thought process in re to rosacea. Becky

I think you're onto something about detoxing and I didn't think of that.

I've been detoxing for about a year with a strange odor coming through

my pores. And I've had rosacea for about the same length of time, but didn't

think of it until you mentioned that. I've been a vegan for over 25 years

and my diet is pretty pure. I use Udo's and don't see any difference.

Today I had an idea of using a hot (warm) castor oil pack on my nose.

It seems strange, but those packs have helped in other situations.

I just use the hot/cold water on the shower. It took a long time of abusing your body to get where you are now. Are you just going to do the hot/cold treaments? If so I don't know if you're goiong to get any results if the root of the problems isnt addressed. If you want fast results a Total body cleanse speeds up detox and a diet change will help prevent the problem in the future. A call to Doc might be helpful if you have any other problems you are dealing w/ too. crcjct wrote:

I use a hot wash cloth at night/small bottle of frozen water (you do what

you can!). The idea of hot/cold showers doesn't appeal to me. Brrr. My

diet is really good. No sugar, nothing white but tofu and baked potato

once in a while and have been a vegan for 27 years - no dairy, meat

of any kind. No pop. No coffee, no caffeine. Sound boring doesn't it :)

Have to say that the reeking body odor I've had for the past year is

just about gone and is coincidental with the ugly outbreak of rosacea which

is luckily only on my nose.

I think I can trace the problem back to a chair I bought at a consignment

shop. It had strong smell of perfume and I was told that often furniture

is fumigated and then doused with perfume to cover the smell of the chemicals.

I was tested for pesticide poisoning by my homeopath so I think that was

the root of the problem.

What do you do for a total body cleanse? Is it a liver/gall bladder/colon

cleanse? I do that periodically with olive oil and lemon juice.

Unfortunately (for you) I live in Brazil

but I make some lotions and wash that work wonders with rosacea (I have one,

myself). .

They are made of onycha, frankincese an myrrh, the pure resins.

It is very good but a funky formula, very difficult to make it and takes some

time to get ready, but it works.

How could I help you?

There is a line of over the counter products for rosacea where the active

ingredient is sea buckthorn berry. It is supposed to kill the organism that

causes rosacea. I have seen sea buckthorn oil on some of the list members

websites.

Does anyone else have any information on the use of sea buckthorn berry oil

for rosacea?

I suffer from rosacea and have been able to control it somewhat with a

cream that I prepare using essential oils. I find that diet is a

major factor and experience flareups as a result of consuming spices

and alcohol. There are preparations on the market for rosacea, but I

cannot expose my face to the chemicals that are in those

preparations. I look forward to hearing about others who experience

this issue.

Jeanne Rose writes about the use of sea buckthorn oil in her book

375 Essential Oils and Hydrosols. Under Properties, Indications,

anc Uses, she states that it has anti-wrinkle and skin softening

activity and is wound healing by increasing the granulation.

There is much information touted on the web about the use of sea

buckthorn oil. I use rosehip seed oil, helichrysum, myrrh, lavender

and carrotseed oil in my Healthy Skin cream formula.

My mother developed Rosacea pretty badly a few years ago. The Dr.s

were no help. The stuff they told her to use just made things worse.

Eventually she stumbled across:

Gotu Kola - Tincture (full spectrum process) and Jojoba oil.

She mixed them together in equal parts and started applying to her

face at night before bed. It took a few weeks but the Rosacea

completely cleared up. She continued to use the mix until she ran out

and the really cool part is she never had to mix up another batch and

the Rosacea never came back.

It's cheap and might be worth a try.

Dear Dede,

The ROOT cause of Rosacea, as for so many

skin conditions, is a sluggish liver.

Anything you do to cleanse the intestinal

tract and activate the liver will be useful.

There are many good products for that on

the market, you already know which ones I

like.

Rainforest Treasure Tea agreed with your

system, it is great for the liver.

And: do you have Dandelions where you are

in Texas? Dandelion Root and leaf are one

of humanity's greatest blessings. Free for

the taking, food, medicine, spirit-lifting

beauty all in one. One of the great loves of

my life. If they are blooming already, just

nibbling a stem is good for your gallbladder.

It tastes mildly bitter with a nice gentle crunch.

Thanks to Maria Treben for that one.

we are surrounded by Herbal Healers?

I was always told rosacea was caused by parasites. In any event,

Black Walnut extract applied directly on the skin cleared mine up. It

is inexpensive and works quickly.

Hi Marti!

Rosacea is one of the symptoms of estrogen dominance (of course, it's not

always due to hormones!). That would make sense in your situation, knowing

that you are already having hormonal issues. Progesterone helps to fix skin

problems like rosacea, especially if they are due to excess estrogen.

Interestingly, there is a National Rosacea Society: http://www.rosacea.org

Perhaps this will be helpful.

Shana

Billie Jo (Crystal Diamond with Neways) suggests and we have had success

with this several times:

For rosacea, wash the face with TLC/Extra Gentle cleanser, splash Eliminator

on the face to destroy the bacteria, (let air dry) then use tender care

lotion. Before bedtime, wet a Revenol tablet and massage over the rosacea

and leave on until morning. The soothing spray is great spritz for healing

rosacea, too and can be used throughout the day.

You would also want to switch to the Convert Your Bathroom and fortify diet

with Maximol, Noni, and Anatomix.

Any ideas for help with Rosacea? I have acne with it, too, but

as long as I am taking Doxycyclene the acne is OK. I’ve been to my regular Dr

and to a Derm and all they want to give me are creams, which are extremely

expensive, and may or may not work. I tried Diffirin cream and that just made

my skin slide off. When I went to the Derm she wanted me to buy 3 other creams,

which I just couldn’t afford, and said she didn’t have samples. I could use a

little help!! :o)

You’re probably Vitamin D deficient. I would ask your

doctor to give you the 25-Hydroxy test, the only accurate one. Coconut oil is

also good for Rosacea.
