Pearl,

Be careful with the bleach. Chlorine is poisonous and you will be putting

your foot into a solution that you will absorb into your skin. But more

importantly, I have tried bleach water for what I thought were fungal

infections and the chlorine has always irritated the tissues so much that it

made things worse and worse. In the end you will be reacting to the

chlorine and think it is still the fungus. I suppose this might work for

some people, but I have tried it several time and know others who have and

in all instances it was very irritating to the inflamed area.

The black walnut tincture that Valerie talked about is an alcohol tincture

that you can buy in most health food stores and probably over the internet

as well as from buying clubs like North Farm and Blooming Prairie. It is

alcohol based and the reason it helps with fungus is the high iodine

content. For funguses I have found the best products to be Grapefruit seed

extract and oregano oil. They both have strong anti-fungal properties.

I wrote in about a salve we make and use for lots of things. It is at our

website. I call it Wilderness Family Naturals antimicrobial healing herbal

salve (or something like that). It contains goldenseal root and tea tree

oil and Grapefruit seed extract to fight things like fungus and bacteria. I

have used it successfully for athletes foot and bad diaper rashes. But even

making a " medicinal oil " by using olive oil and GFS extract or oregano oil

and coating the area I would think would be effective. I have also noticed

that with the feet things work the best if they are soaked in warm water

each day and the treatment is put on after the soaking when everything is

soft and clean. Both of the oil and the extract you should be able to get at

health food stores as well. If you can't find anything let me know, I'll try

to help you.

Feet are the part of the body that has the poorest circulation, so they

often take longer to treat.

I hope I have been helpful.

Best Regards,

Annette

The salve recipe is at http://www.wildernessfamilynaturals.com under how to

use herbs, then select salves. I believe it is the first recipe.

Hi Annette,

Thank you. I have never dealt with this problem before and now that it is here,,,,,,I HAVE to hide it with nail polish, because everyone sees my feet all the time, cause I wear sandals to work and at home,I am barefooted.I have polished my toes......continuously,since I was in my early teens. Will the stuff still work, even with the polish on them?

Sparkey,

I have no idea. Believe it or not I have never used nail polish on my toes. I only put it on my fingernails a few times when I was a teenager. The polish will probably act like a barrier over the top of the nail. But some could still seep in from the sides and the top, I guess. I really don't know.

I had nail fungus after hurricane Katrina when black mold was

everywhere. I treated it with tincture of odine, applies around the

border of the nail, 3 times a day. The fungus went away and the nail

healed. It took a while, but it worked fine.

I have had more success with lemon grass oil.

I have a toenail fungus a cousin picked up in Africa and it is the toughest

fungus I have ever encountered.

I tried tea tree and as I say the lemongrass seems better.

Re estrogen - soy and its products I think are the worst offender.

Notice the winning body builders use whey not soy protein.

My chickens ignore soy as well.

an okay treatment for while I am breastfeeding. I am considering

supplementing with grapefruit seed extract, olive leaf extract, and

raw garlic. I don't want to use tea tree oil or lavender because of

recent study that said it can affect little boys by producing too much

estrogen in their bodies. Whether it is a legitimate study I am not

sure, but I don't want to take a chance and TTO hasn't helped much anyway.

Thanks!

an FYI ...grapefruit seed extract can be applied topically to reduce Nail Fungus

as well as taken internally. As always . . .things that boost your immune

system will help.

and I have one individual that claims " VICS vaporub' " will also help when

applied topically.

The fungus likes processed sugar, so a minimal amount of sweets in your diet

will also help, (raw fruit is typically an exception) as will the proper

bi-terrain in your digestive track.

Best To you

I was able to rid myself recently of a toenail fungus by a month-long 3xday

application of maitake mushroom extract. I started the first week by soaking a

bandaid with dpps of ext. and applying; then went to just a few drops rubbed in

each application. It also helped a spot of exzema on my forehead, and it

really helped my daughter's shingles. The Reishi mushroom extract works in

these same applications, and is much less expensive and easier to find. Norma

When I was a nail tech, I recommended Tea Tree Oil to

clients. Use in foot baths and also as a topical

solution. Usually nail fungus is also systemic, so you

want to do a fungus cleanse for the whole body.

Parasites feed on fungus so a parasite cleanse would

also be of benefit.

Hi,

The problem with treating nail fungus is that the results don't show

for many weeks because the nails grow so slowly.

I cured my nail fungus by putting a few drops of Tea Tree Oil on to

the ends of the nails so that it's absorbed along the nail.

I did this morning and evening for a week. After a couple of weeks I

could see the healthy nail growing at the base of the nailbed.

Cider vinegar taken internally is helpful for treating any type of

fungal infection. It also has a long list of other benefits.

Blessings

Michael.

Hello Jean,

I am new to this group and happy to have found this. I am in the

process of becoming a certified aromatherapist and in my online

research, I found this group.

I have a fungus in both big toe nails. I have been treating it with

Tea Tree oil with excellent results. The foot doctor I went to

actually told me to do this!

After showering, I make sure the feet and nails are properly dried,

then I file the top of the nails(once a week)with a disposable emory

board and apply the oil directly on the nails, making sure all is

covered. I also apply the oil in the mornings before dressing. I live

in a rain forest, so I go barefoot as much as I can while at home.

It has worked wonders. It may take some time to heal, but is

worth it. Hope this helps you.

I have heard using Vicks in the am and pm will help it too. I have had the same

problem with my thumb since 1986 and have tried prescription and alternative

methods to no avail so good luck. I have heard the vicks method has worked for

others. My husbands orthopedic surgeon said to soak it two or three times a day

in epsom salts and warm water. I am so busy with everything I could only manage

2x a day (they looked at me a bit wierd at work trying to do it there lol).

Anyhow, good lucky, hopefully it works for him.

Hope all is well with you and yours.

Nail Fungus

We have tried just about everything over, and under the counter we can

think of to fight off my husbands nail fungus.

Just wondering if anyone might have other ideas??

We have tried Tea Tree oil, to soaking in mouthwash!!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hulda Clarks zapper for fungus is an alternative. It

emits frequencies that kill fungus. When topicals

don't work its usually because the fungus has gone

systemic.

Hi Robin,

Trying to take care of this topically won't work.

This is an outward sign of an inward problem!

I would suggest cutting sugar out of the diet, as this

is a main culprit to feeding fungus. Eliminate from the diet, fruit, juices,

processed carbohydrates and simple sugar bakery items.

I would suggest taking care of this internally, to be fully effective.

Capryllic Acid formula is specific for getting under control

fungus. It is a natural product. Black Current Oil works better

for this than Flax Seed Oil. Probiotic Eleven, 4 at bedtime with water.

This allows the good bacterias the opportunity to culture in the gut. This

gets the Candida under control, it keeps it in balance. Candida (fungus)

occurs naturally in the intestines. It cannot be totally irradicated. Once this

is

started, you can put Tea Tree oil full strength on affected areas. You should

notice an improvement within 3-4 days. I would suggest doing this at least 2

months,3 would be better.

Robin,

How long did you apply the Tea Tree Oil for?

It took me around a whole year to see it disappear.

But it is sure gone.
