Guest guest
Hi all, I'll be as brief as possible but I have a very complicated story and need some input ASAP. Over the past 4 years I have had varying pituitary hormones causing Cushing's disease, the Addison's then high levels of aldosterone and testosterone, etc. Basically my whole system is screwed up and apparently these fluctuations are causing diabetes, migraines, diabetes insipidus, severe electrolyte problems, etc. I currently take DDAVP, atenolol, Tarka, valium, oxycodone, metformin, relpax, zofran, vitamin D, and acipdophilus for all of my problems. I can not take anything that will increase my steroid (cortisol levels, etc.) since it puts me right back into Cushing's disease. I was told by my current docs they want me to quite all meds immediately since one could be causing a problem triggering a problem with another due to damage to my pituitary during surgery. Stopping is obviously going to be painful so I was hoping for some tips on stopping since I do have very high blood pressure and diabetes but they think this will go away once I am off the meds these idiots put me on. UGH! So does anyone have any tips on supplements that I can take to prepare and throughout my withdrawal since I am at risk of having a sodium crash but can't eat a lot due to the diabetes insipidus. I am very poor so the best and fewest would be best bnut I will do my best to get what I can if someone can help. As far as what alternatives I am interested in and have practiced a bit are energy healing (although I am not sure how strong my energy will be during the withdrawal so I may need some long distance help here), some supplements (learning more) and other holistic and spiritual healing. I also do meditation, both guided and that to ease pain or breath, etc. Please feel free to write me off line if you think this email is too general for everyone but I didn't have time to read the emails from all since I get severe migraines and nausea when I spend to mush time near the computer. Honestly I think the American docs made me worse with their surgery and meds (I had pituitary surgery and only removed a small portion, had a cystic tumor removed out of my chest cavity and have a couple of more similar tumors growing inside). I have no menstruated since my illness and have very high testosterone which is causing many changes in my body - does anyone see any value in birth control to regulate my hormones for now until I am able to balance them alone? I know I don't like meds but I also have a high risk of cancer in my family and need to shed my uterus since it is starting to display cancerous cells. Ok, sorry for the long emails, feel free to ask questions that may help. Thanks SFG!
Guest guest
My suggestion is that you buy the Gerson Therapy book by Charlotte Gerson and start the therapy, ideally with a natural doctor’s advice who is also versed on this therapy. The Gerson Institute (www.gerson.org) should be able to recommend one. Of course, ideally you should visit a Gerson clinic and start there. Guest guest
Thanks for the rec. There are no docs near me that are listed on the site, unfortunately. Also Medicare does not cover it so I am out since my monthly disability barely covers my rent and essentials (meds and food are all besides rent.) Any other thoughts, I make take a look at the book if I can find it near me. I appreciate your getting back to me and let you know if I have any questions. Thanks again! Guest guest
HI, I am sorry you are experiencing these illnesses and stress and also the stress of having to try to get off of meds. I think that if people knew the exact number of doctor-caused illnesses and deaths we would be shocked to say the least. Cushing's disease is an interesting phenomena. This and most of the other things you mentioned, if not all, can be addressed through dietary changes, and yes, it is hard when you are poor. My guess that your diet, the sad American diet, is triggering your body to produce more hormones than is necessary. There are also chemicals in the environment called xenoestrogens which mimic hormones in the body, chemicals like dioxins:( Dioxins are slowly bio-transformed in the body and are not easily eliminated. They tend to accumulate in fat and in the liver. By interacting with a cellular receptor, dioxins can trigger biological effects such as hormonal disturbances and alterations in cell functions.) http://www.greenfacts.org/en/dioxins/index.htm#1 America has become so toxic that it is no wonder we are having all these illnesses. Amelia has mentioned the Gerson therapy. Perhaps you can start slowly with this therapy which is the best at detoxing.Your body is in a state of toxemia. You need a really good and gentle detox program to begin. And this can start with eliminating certain things like milk products, animal fats, sugar, wheat, and corn (sugar, wheat, and corn are inflammatory agents). My guess is that you are over the age of thirty, are very overweight, etc. Fat itself causes inflammation. With each step that you take you will feel better and better. I know it is scary to wean yourself off of meds, but there is a wide internet body for you to find information that will help you, not to mention friends who have gone through similar experiences. I wish you luck! Kelly
Guest guest
Thanks Kelly, I’ll check this stuff out. I do buy as much organic and whole fod as possible on my limited budget and try to pick the ones that matter most. Luckily I had the Cushing’s then lost some of the weight during surgery and post surgery then they gave me exogenous Cushing’s then that went away and now I am in flux so my weight is not obese by standards but is much larger than I am used to having been a major athlete before my illness which hit me out of the blue – literally stopped my menstruation, hair fell out and gained 30 pounds in two weeks. I am sure once I get the detox going I’ll see some better results. I am seriously considering going back to my semi vegetarian diet, before I emailed everyone, so it is good to hear that my intuition was on track. I eat some fish and eggs on my semi diet so that’s why I call it semi, no meat including bird is allowed since I am having a hard time digesting any foods at this point…damn hormones! Do you know of any supplements that may help me to not have as horrible symptoms since if I toss too many cookies I will be in the hospital all doped up again because of the electrolyte problems I have at this point. I think once I get my hormones fixed this will solve this problem and many others…I was thinking of using one o the blood “cleaners” while I remove myself from the meds in hopes of relieving some of the withdrawal issues as I have been on these meds for years. Luckily too, I still look 24 even though I am 34…lol. If anyone has any thoughts on the blood cleansers and if it would help the symptoms of withdrawal while I come off the drugs let me know. I do try a lot of organic juice, fruits and veggies as well as soy milk instead of dairy…which was a hard switch for me being a former farm girl but it is not bad and I felt better on it. I am dreading stopping so many meds at once...ugh! I’ll look at the dioxins as I have heard of them but have not read a lot, thanks for the site! And you are so right about stress, the disease and meds are only part of it – not to mention being disowned by my family as they did not understand my illness and my friends who wanted me to be 30 not feel like I am 90. I’ll be happy and eager for this to all be over just dreading the side effects of coming off…but determined to do it so I can see what my body really is like. Thanks again, SFG On Behalf Of Kelly W. Guest guest
I think you have a good handle on things. I've read about the dangers of soy milk though. I wouldn't take anything even in nature that would excessively affect your hormones. I think the raised cortisol itself causes surges in other hormones. I know for me, sugar leads to estrogen surges. One of the things you can try is an anticandida diet. I believe you will feel awesome on it. For the first couple weeks, no sugar, not even fruit. And no vinegar, no lunch meats, etc. and no foods that have high mold levels. Take a look at the Specific Carbohydrate Diet by Jean Gottschall online. I would definitely recommend that to you at this point to see how much candida figures into your problems. I know that candida is promoted by estrogen and can itself block hormonal regulation in the body. It actually binds to hormones so they can't get to the receptor sites. I would definitely look at the SCD diet if I were you. You may have stunning results as many people have.Have you joined Cushing's support groups on ? I think this would do you wonderfully. And if you do find that systemic yeast is a problem there are great candida groups as well.Kel
