Guest guest
Kelly: About 8 weeks ago I finally discovered that the DRUGS I was on were literally killing me. I was on Zanax, Tramadol, and Arimidex (for postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive breast cancer). I was at a point; all I wanted and was able to do was sleep and stay in bed. It was such an effort to walk from one end of the house to the other. I googled Arimidex and found that I was having every side effect that was listed. I was getting so sick that I was vomiting from the head aches. I would go off the Arimidex due to vomiting, get a little better and start up the Arimidex, then back to bed so sick again. For 3 years I went to several doctors for my inability to perform small tasks and oh yes, “You are just depressed”. I’m off everything expect ½ Tramadol am and ½ pm. I’ve gone through HELL getting off these DRUGS. I know that they were all making my body so, so toxic. Tramadol is so addictive. I will be so glad when my body does not crave this drug. I hope this information can help someone out there. I know I have a long way to go, but at last I know what was making me feel so horrible. Marilyn - Kelly W. Guest guest
Gosh I hope that the meds are my problem too but the only way they say they can tell is to get me off and test me along the way to make sure I stay healthy…stay healthy? Umm, I’m not at this point and now I have a cellulitis infection on my face – whole left side…ouch! I am glad you are getting better coming off the Arimidex. I used to work in cancer and I know many wormen who had the same problem but no one would report it to the FDA so it stays on the market…I hope we all start writing the FDA about these…it just takes a 5 minute call and we can save so many from our pains! Guest guest
I'm not Marilyn, I'm the new one and the name is Irene. I had six years on prednisone for polymyalgia but the reason I joined this group is because I just lost my husband because the FDA took off the market a japanese supplement that had kept him alive for over twenty years, I'm simply furious at them for their interfering. He was cancer free for that long and then it came right back on his face and spread to the lymph nodes in his neck and the HMO was too slow getting him to a surgeon and by then it was too late and he died last year. I've never lived alone before so now I have to start life over at 79. I know most of the women at the senior center are widows so it happens to a lot of us but it's brand new to me. Sorry for the rant and I'm sure you have your own cross to bear. Due to the stress I have developed an upset intestinal system so that's what's happening to me, not life threatening I doubt but no fun either. Happy to hear from someone on the site though, keep in touch. The computer is my life line to the outside world pretty much. Guest guest
I’m sorry to hear about your husband. That is a very hard thing – to lose someone you love to illness and when things weren’t done right. The FDA does some good and some bad things, I used to work in the medical field so I know. I just wish more patients would speak up when meds are giving them such severe problems like myself and some of the others…it’s the only way to get it changed…I also started taking many alt meds to help my detox…I just saw my docs and started coming off the meds that are supposedly making me so ill…after brain surgery and thoracic surgery cutting me in half at 29 I am prepared to do anything I think. I try to stay positive and joined a happy-ish chronic pain group on here. It just started but it is nice to talk about something other than being sick all the time and we try to do both since with the chronic pain we mostly get to live at home at a young age all alone…except visits from our friends who didn’t leave and the here and there boyfriend who decides it’s ok that I am sick. Luckily I have a great one and we hope to marry one day soon when I get to a state of better health. My cellulitis in my lymph nodes which is nothing compared to cancer but I have also had precancerous tumors at an early age and my mom has had it 5 or 6 times, I am losing count in my family…my grandmother at 85 just had it and was crazy enough to have surgery and chemo and radiation – she kicked it so far and then went and had her hips done too…one tough cookie. She lives alone and loves it. But then again she had an abusive husband for many years and had to raise 9 children alone. Hopefully I will have a happy marriage but my man has been through both surgeries with me so I take it as a good sign since most men would run when you say I had brain surgery. I actually met him a month before my first surgery and then 5 weeks later I had a second…strong man and he was the one I chose to make the decision about my life support and stuff. You should check into the legal ramifications for the lack of response for a quick surgery…there is a patient group that does it for free if finances are a problem. And for others out there, there are ways to get the meds removed from the market under compassionate use or appeals to the company…unfortunately you had one in Japan so it makes it hard…I try to use mostly US products so I have a fighting chance if I ever need one. Hopefully I can turn into a normal 33 y/o soon. Although I will never have kids and my family has disowned me. Literally. My sister-in-law has Crohn’s disease so her intestinal system is in pain too…I know how hard that can be and I too have developed problems because of the hundreds of pills I take each week that are supposed to cure me…now they tell me they are shutting off my liver and kidneys and I need to come off…meanwhile I have stroke level blood pressure sitting still. All the drama we go through with illness. Anyway, I just wanted to write to let you know about the other group – I can give you the name if you want it…fun people and we talk about a lot so it may be fun for you. I hope you have some family that cares for you and visits often so you are not too alone. I tend to write a lot and often on all my groups and on my own website so I’m always around until I can go back to work…unless I get a bad day then I clam up and hide under the covers for a couple of days…docs orders. Feel free to write anytime and I hope people will write the FDA for good or bad news about products since that’s the only way we and our family will get meds that help and get rid of the ones we don’t! Guest guest
Oh you poor dear and you are so young. Yes I would say you have found a wonderful young man to stick with you through this much. that is so rare. I won't fight the FDA as it won't bring back my one and only. I found a doctor that is an MD and is a 'functional doctor', not quite alternative but she does start with nutrition and she has me on a natural hormone that is created at a pharmacy that actually makes the pills, I got lucky when I found we had one in our small town. She also has me on a natural pill for high blood pressure called Vasotensin by Metagenics. That company also makes a powder that you mix with water and I had it years ago when I had the upset intestines once before. You can't buy it in a regular drug store but this compounding pharmacy has a lot of these products. Very handy. Well I have my hands full now as I have an avocado orchard to take care of and I know nothing about the outside but I do have a yard man who helps me only his mother had a stroke and he had to go back to Honduras to get her house organized for her when she came home from the hospital, he's due back soon and a good thing too as I really haven't given the trees enough water and the summer's coming soon. I have two sons but one lives on the other side of Los Angeles and the traffic is horrendous, his older brother is closer but he works at a junior college repairing computers by day and is a musician at night (his real love). He has a darling girl friend who lives in his condo with him and I wish they would make it legal but I love her dearly anyway. No grandchildren, we each have two cats apiece but the Christmas tree (if there is one) always has cat toys under it (hehe). The girl friend is a part of a group that does Andrew Sisters numbers and they really do look like them. You are probably too young to have ever heard of them. That goes back to WWII and they have the uniforms as well. Well I must eat again, I'm trying to keep something inside me frequently so this will settle down. It's mostly just in the morning but it's not good to get empty. Irene - sweetfightgirl Friday, May 25, 2007 3:56 PM RE: great overmedicating of children video I’m sorry to hear about your husband. Guest guest
Prednisone will stop the body from attacking itself so it is a miracle but long term it's a different story as it upsets a lot of the balance in the body. Anyone taking it must go very slowly in order to get off it especially the last few mgs. only 1 mg per month and that works best if done in a zigzag fashion. Any one that needs to know how can write me off the site. Congratulations on finding a way to control your problem which is new to me I haven't heard of that one before. Guest guest
I'm sorry to hear about what happened to your husband. Thank you for joining our group. I think what is happening with you as you mentioned you had diarrhea is an overgrowth of candida. Stress, prednisone use, antibiotics, and poor diet mess up the lining of the intestines. Have you tried an anticandida diet? Do you like yogurt? Organic yogurt, even flavored, with some flax seed oil and walnuts will do wonders. The Specific Carbohydrate Diet is one anticandida diet that is not as strict as the others, but I hear it still works. Kel
