Guest guest
Dear Ellie: Meditation can take a time to learn, but it sounds like you could use some quick stress relief. I recommend two tapes from the Monroe Institute. The first one is " Deep 10 Relaxation " is a 45 minute tape or C.D. (whichever you prefer) which uses sound technology to entrain your brain into a relaxed state. Hemi Sync is the term they use for what the sound waves do. They synchronize the hemispheres of the brain, and entrain the brain into the Theta state which is ideal for meditation and relaxation. The tape also has a verbal countdown which assists you in relaxing all your muscles. The web site will give you many more details. The other tape they have is called " Sound Sleeper " . Although similar to " Deep 10 " , the difference is that " Sound Sleeper " takes you down to the delta brain waves, which are the ones you go to in sleep. Both of these tapes/C.D.'s have been very benificial to my clients and patients, and many of the local medical establishment recommends them for thier clients with stress and/or sleep problems. They also have tapes to help you help yourself in the healing process and in maintaining heart wellness. Although I have not seen as much obvious results with these, I know that many folks love them. I include thier web site below. Most tapes cost around 14.95 and C.D.'s 19.95. http://www.monroeinstitute.org/index.html I hope this is helpful. Good luck. love, connie (I love everybody, and YOUR NEXT!) www.whateverworkswellness.com WhateverWorksWellness > GRANDMABEAR712 > > Sun, 12 Aug 2001 22:39:30 EDT > > Hello everyone! > > Hello, > I have an open question for anyone. Guest guest
Hi Ellie: Connie has already given you some good ideas so I'm just going to throw in a couple. I personally use the Chios Healing Meditation; I started using it last year and it has been the first " sitting " meditation I've been able to do consistantly. It is very mind expanding and has helped me with my healing work. Chios Meditation: http://www.chioshealing.com/Meditation/meditation.htm Focused more towards what I think you are looking for at bedtime, here are the instructions for PMR, Progressive Muscle Relaxation, a technique I teach to many clients as a method of preparing for sleep and learning how to discern when they are actually relaxed. Many people think they are fully relaxed and then try this, only to discover they have been holding tension unconsciously in some area of the body. It gives you the awareness you need to work on specific areas where you hold your tension in your body. One thing I will offer you... if you tend to cramp, don't clench too tightly, simply contract the muscles until you are used to the technique. Progressive Muscle Relaxation: http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/har/les1.htm Hope these links are helpful, Ellie. Guest guest
Hello Crow!? Thanks for submitting this info to the group. I have a question, do you practice the chios? If so, I'd like to know more about your experience. Thanks, Blanche
