Introduction

Hi, my name is Marie, and I am a Reiki, SKHM, Shamanic and Divine Alchemy Teacher. I have been working with energy for most of my life, and someone gave me a name to what I was doing in my early 20's. My dog Chester....I found him abandoned at a park in Austin, Texas, and he was ill from the moment I found him. He had to have a stomach operation, because his stomach was being attacked by a virus. However, he was still sick after the surgery, and I happened to be taking massage classes at the time. A friend in the class studied Reiki, and she offered to work on him for free. In one treatment, all of his torment ended. He lived for fifteen years, seven more than the vet hoped he could. So my dog Chester was the one who got me onto this alternative path. As he began to heal I realized how much I needed to heal from my childhood, and this is when I began remembering some of the things I was taught as a kid while we hung out at Hopi...and I was adopted by a family on Pine Ridge, and I began learning about other ways of experiencing the world. However, I really didn't want to borrow from other cultures, so I began reconnecting with my Ancestors, learning what they wanted to teach me regarding ceremony and how to celebrate life....and after many years of being on this path, I began sharing it with others.

I'm also an artist, a deep, true love of mine. I recently received a grant to paint the local wildlife as a way of educating our local kids. I am very excited about doing this and also a bit intimidated. This is the biggest risk I've taken with my artwork so far. Anyway, I look forward to taking part in this list!
