Hello Shirley,

Try ti-tree oil neat or alternate it with neat

lavendar oil.You could do this every hour. I think you

need to support your immune system as well with lots

of vit C and probably echinacea.

Best wishes

---Try a bread and milk poutice. This is an old remedy that draws the

core right to the surface. The milk has to be rather warm almost hot

for the drawing action to take place.

JoAnn and others, thanks for the information about BOILS.

Now I need to know if its safe to apply the milk poultice on

the boil after it has start to drain? Mine has been draining

for a couple of days but the CORE has not come out yet,

everyday it fills up again with pus and continue to drain

as though its going to keep doing this forever. As I said

before, I do not want to go to the doctor because he will

require that I be hospitalized. Thanks for all the info.

Re: BOILS

> JoAnn and others, thanks for the information about BOILS.

Here's another possibility. delivered this morning from Herbs First

Chickweed

For itching associated with rashes, hives, and eruptive diseases such as

measles, the ointment or wash can provide welcome relief (Sal: 165). A

poultice enclosed in muslin is a sure remedy for a carbuncle or an external

abscess, bathing the affected part with the tea as well (Gri: 196). For

Erysipelas, a streptococcus disease characterized by deep redness and

painful swelling, bathe the affected surface every half hour with a

decoction of fresh chickweed. Also apply Chickweed ointment to the affected

area.

Chickweed also is effective for bolls and burns and is an excellent remedy

for acne, used externally and internally as an added healing aid (Mal:86).

One herbalist has seen the fresh leaves of bruised Chickweed applied to

indolent, intractable ulcers on the leg, of many years standing, with

decided and immediate beneficial results (Felk: 1835).

The ointment is good for piles and sores. It is also effective used against

chilblains. Itching genitals and swollen testicles, so often associated with

internal inflammations and disorders, will respond to a wash of the strong

decoction and application of the ointment. For hemorrhoids, bathe the area

with the decoction, infusion or diluted tincture, warm as possible, and

apply Dr. Christopher's healing ointment, described below.

--- Shirley, We had no problems as long as the poultice is put in a

sterile pad/cloth. After repeated efforts the core should appear.

Apparently there is also an ointment

by the name of *sulfathiosol*. we also used this on occasion. Not

sure if its still available or not, however.

Hi JoAnn,

Are you familiar with ichtimol (sp). It has been been around forever.

It is a black, tarry looking salve that is excellent in drawing out the nasty

bacteria and the ensuing core.

My mother was one of those unique nurses who paid attention to what the medical

books taught, but went beyond their information and realy zeroed in on cause and

effect.

My brother an I got a boil occasionally which I thinkis usually a staph

infection. Though they would start out innocently enough, they grew in size

epth and pain.

The icthiol is sole over the counter in drug store and a generous glod over the

boil with a light dressing is amazing. My mom used to put hot compressedon the

boil area to open the skins poors so the ointment would work more efficiently.

Didn't taken long to bring about a boil ready to burst and flush.

---Shirley, Another reference by Michael T. Murray recommends tea

tree oil in inhibit the spread of

pus and to kill the virus and also

that showers be taken instead of baths for the duration. As they are

infectious the tea tree tends to kill the " staph " bacteria which is

the root cause.

Just curious to know if this is a recurrent problem and if you are

aware whether this is a boil or a carbuncle.

He recommends echinacea and/or goldenseal be taken internally for a

short period of time to fight the infection.

Feel free to email me for more information

From 'Prescription for Nutritioal Healing', 2000, p220:

Recomendations for boils:

-Colloidal silver (apply topically as directed on label)

(natural antibiotic and disinfectant)

-Vitamin C 3-8 grams (in divided doses)

-Zinc 50mg

-Do not cover boil with an adhesive bandage

-Wash infected area several times a day and swab it with antiseptic

  • 3 years later...

I have had boils before, but just let them heal on there " painful " own. I just

thought this was me and not apart of my Lupus. If I take antibiotics I break

out all over...any type of antibiotic.

I have never paid attention of when I get them, but I did get one last night. I

am going through stress right now with my father's health. There might be a

connection there????

Sorry that I could not be of any help to you.

Do you think that I am getting reoccurring boils due to the stress

caused by

hurricane Katrina? I am an evacuee of New Orleans and have NEVER had a

boil

in my life, now, in the past 4 months, I have had 7! I let the

doctors take

blood, there is no staph in my blood, and they just want to put me on

antibiotics until the next time. Any experience with these boils?
