Thanks for the encouragement, Kel. No need to go back through the archives. My website is: www.firstfitness.com/thin4life

I hope this depression thing won't continue to be an annual occurrence for the rest of my life! I do intend to get on the comp alot more often, with the kids in school and most of my work with the mental health job will be done from home in the new fiscal year. I do miss you all when I'm not here!

Sorry to hear that you have migraines, Amelia. I used to get them every two years like clockwork, almost to the exact day and hour! They were the worst! I couldn't move, have any light or sound, I couldn't even cry because it hurt too much. If I had to go to the bathroom, I had to literally carry my head in my hands because it hurt too much to try to hold it up on it's own power. I got the nausea, vomitting, the aura, the whole nine yards. Even the small movement from breathing was excruciating!

When I worked in the emergency room, people would come walking in saying they had a migraine headache. I used to think they were lying, because how could anyone in that kind of pain "walk" into the ER?! The only time I went to the ER with a migraine, my ex husband had to carry me to the car and into the ER. They gave me demerol which sent my blood pressure into a nose dive, but didn't do anything for the pain. When I was working and felt the migraine coming on, the nurses would hook me up with an oxygen tank. The pure oxygen would stop the headache dead in it's tracks everytime. I don't know where you would get pure oxygen but if you can, that is the best relief for a migraine I have ever found. Once you have the headache though, it seems next to impossible to get up and go to an oxygen bar. And keep up the good work on improving your nutrition. I haven't had a migraine headache in 13 years now. Just trying to help!

Thanks for the info, Renee. I had never heard of oxygen for migraines, but it makes sense. I drink oxygenated water, but I'm sure that's a lot different. My migraines happen at the same time of the month every time.

I wanted to mention to you guys that after reading Dr. Gabriel Cousens' book "Depression Free for Life", I decided to go see an orthomolecular psychiatrist. I have also been having problems with depression lately. She's an M.D. but she believes in using natural supplements as much as possible. She uses a lot of amino acids, fish oil, etc. but she tests you first to see what you're deficient in. She does an amino acid assay, vitamin/mineral levels test, hormone test (including thyroid panel), etc. I'll let you all know how it goes.

Take care,

Amelia

I would be very curious to know what your ascorbate levels are? Not what they say is normal, the actual levels. mgs per 15 pounds of body weight or something like that.

Thanks,

Dan, is low ascorbate a contributing factor for migraines? I'm actually getting all that checked next week.

It could quite possibly be, I'm not positive but I have a sneaky suspicion since it is responsible for so many diseases. I know the b's can contribute for sure. Amelia Gerlach <ameliagerlach wrote:

they are slighty different but close to the same. v-c is ascorbic acid. ascorbates are buffered minerals.Amelia Gerlach <ameliagerlach wrote:
