Guest guest
Boy! Do I lead a boring life?! I turned 47 in July. My husband and I celebrate our 27th anniversary in October. We have 3 kids. Carl is 25 and is going to school in Orlando for music engineering. I miss him sooo much, but I did spend a week with him in July. His girlfriend & I drove there since she was finally moving to live with him. Of course, she did ALL the driving, I felt so bad, since I do have a license. I get panic attacks when driving on the highway. But she is a wonderful girl and was great about it. It was nice to be able to see where & how my son lived. He also has a roommate who is into healthy eating, which I am soo grateful for. Carl also has epilepsy, and started having frequent seizures right after moving there. I kept telling him to stop eating junk, but, alas, Im only his mother! However, once he moved in with Jason he stopped having seizures as frequently. Jason does all the cooking, and he only uses organic food. Carl is now starting to listen! I also have 2 daughters, Christy who is 20 and Katie who is 14. Christy has opted to not go to college at this time. She got a scholarship to Mercyhurst in Youth Ministry which is what she has always wanted to do, but then recently got a promotion to assistant store manager and has decided that is what she wants to do instead. Do I sound disappointed!? Since I work at Mercyhurst, she could also go at 80% off in any field. But, she's 20 and knows a lot more than I do! Christy has hashimoto's thyroid disease, candidiasis and many allergies! I have to say that it is because of her that I started on this quest for nutritional knowledge. Katie is my baby. She just started high school last week. She is so excited. She was accepted in the Performing Arts program in school and absolutely loves it. She wants to be an actress and recently said she wants guitar lessons, so she's starting that this month. Katie decided about 2 months ago to become a vegetarian. This would be great, but she also has Celiac Disease and I cant get her to stay away from gluten. Celiac Disease isnt very wel known around here, but in today's paper there is an announcement of a dr coming to speak about it on the 14th. Im planning to take her and Im trying to talk my husband into going. He's very resistant, so please wish me luck! Well, I guess I told you all about my faminly and not much about me. But, I have to go for now. I,ll wite more later. Carla
Guest guest
Hi, I'm Barb. I am 53, and have two children, 25 and 27. We have a sweet little half lab, half cocker, who looks just like a baby lab. We also have two cats and a beautiful little black and white bunny. I am married to a wonderful man, and live near Baltimore. I love to garden, and reading, and needlework, which I seldom have time for. I have Fibromylagia, and about 8 years ago, I was almost crippled with it. After a lot of work, I have been able to get it under control, and actually feel good now. I originally was a teacher, and now I am an RN, as is my hubby, and I am a Wholistic Healthcare Consultant. Although we love nursing, we are tired of the way we are treated by the hospitals and the establishment. That is why I am doing the consulting, in addition to the fact that it is more satisfying. Hubby is still working in the hospital, but we are trying to get him out. We took classes and are learning how to do currency trading, which is a lot to learn, but very lucrative when you do it. We follow the Baltimore Ravens, and the Baltimore Orioles, (OK, no comments about Rafael), and I love the beach. In fact, if we get good at the trading, our goal is to get a beach house. I love horses. Most of all, I love helping people. Barb
Guest guest
I am 43 and the single mom of a son, age 22 and two daughters, ages 12 and 5. I live in Keego Harbor, Michigan, near Pontiac. I have my own business in metabolic nuttrition. I have 2 part time jobs as well, although one has been full time plus over the past couple of months. I interview consumers of mental health services for the purpose of evaluating and improving mental health services in my county. I also am a co-facilitator of multi family group counseling for Easter Seals. I have a degree in electronics, that I don't use anymore! I did, at one time, repair and install corporate computers, then did light measurement testing for Ford Motor Company before leaving for good to work with metabolic nutrition and stay home with my kids. I live on the biggest and deepest inland lake in Michigan and love to spend all of my free time at our neighborhood beach. I also am a bit of an artist, when I have time and a writer. Three of my pieces (or poems, perhaps!) have been published. I also enjoy doing many other crafts. I enjoy gardening and just about anything else in the great outdoors. I love being outside. I also love riding motorcycles with my fiance and his motorcycle club, the Detroit Outlaws. We are not criminals, however, despite the stigma attached to that club (and most motorcycle clubs, for that matter!) We just ride motorcycles. My fiance teaches music to kids and adults. He owns a music store and teaches mostly guitar, but a little bit of piano, violin and drums too. I also do alot of volunteer stuff (cub scouts, brownie scouts, class room mom at school, catechism teacher, football, baseball, bowling and gymnastics mom, parent committee chair, policy committee chair and policy council representative for our local head start program, and much more!) And that is me! I hope you guys all still like me now!!! Blessings, Renee --- " Kelly W. Guest guest
That was a sweet note. It's nice to meet you Avery. Is that your name? Are you a female? Sorry to hear about your divorce. And I love your ability to open up about your life. I prize that above all things - honesty. I am going to check out the two books you mentioned. I have seen the " Natural Cures " book offered on TV but the first one is new to me. I have some books that I think are wonderful as well here. I will compose a small list. I am going to keep trying to avoid wheat and sugar. I feel so much better when I do. Guest guest
Hi ...I think I'll come out of "lurk-dom" and introduce myself! I'm Jane and I live in Va...closer to you Amelia! I have been listening and learning. I always think everyone else has it so much worse then me so I don't chime in I'm 55, married, two children and two grandchildren. I have fibromyalgia and the pain and exhaustion is beginning to slow me down. I KNOW that diet and exercise is a big deal for folks with fibromyalgia. I feel so much better when I don't eat lots of carbs and sugars AND I exercise. I've been in a "funk" lately and I quit taking my own advise! My husband is a vegetarian and I am 99% of the time. I'm just used to cooking vegetarian after 27 yrs and now I prefer it most the time. I think it is better for my fibro. I have been doing childcare for 20 yrs. It is the best job in the world, those kids will not let you be unhappy for long!! I was going to school to become a teacher but didn't finish, and after caring for teacher's kids, I don't think I want their hard job! Mine is just perfect. I get to pick the kids I care for, I get to teach anything I want, I get to go on any field trips I want and I get to be boss! I am happy to be part of this group and please keep the good advise coming and I just might get myself motivated again! Jane
Guest guest
Hi everyone, I just came on line after a busy holiday weekend and I see everyone is posting info about themselves. So here is mine. Might be a little lengthy. I am 34, Married with a 2 year old daughter. We live in Greer, South Carolina near Greenville. We just moved here about 4 months ago from Warren, Michigan. My wife took a job working at the County Detention Center (Jail). I work from home as a Purchasing Manager for a Leasing Co. However recently after discussing with my wife I have decided to go back to school to study Holistic Health Care. I am currently looking at Clayton College, If anyone knows of any other schools that I could take on line or that may be local to me please let me know so I can check into them. As you will soon see my passion for this is mainly to help my family, and I would also like to help as many others as possible. I am green at Natural health care but this group and the books I have been reading have been very helpful. (Natural Cures They Don't Want You To Know About, and Lessons From Miracle Doctors) Myself, Wife and Daughter seem to be in pretty good health so right now. I was diagnosed with Acid Reflux at one time, but I refused to believe that I had a Disease, 10 years ago it was just called Heart Burn. But after taking a Tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar when I had Heartburn it would immediate go away and eventually I stopped having the symptoms all together. My Father was diagnosed with Lupus in 1988. Since then they have diagnosed him with several other diseases. His health has been slowly going down hill. He just recently had an ulcer in his stomach and had to have half his stomach removed. He is recovering well, however the doctor told him he got the Ulcer from milk...... First off my dad does not drink very much milk at all, and secondly I know for a fact that one of his medications say that it can cause Ulcers. I think the doctor was just trying to cover herself from a lawsuit from not catching this earlier before he needed this surgery. My Mother has Fibromyalgia, and is in the beginning stages of Osteoporosis and Acid Reflux. My sister has also been diagnosed with Lupus, The doctor could not get the tests to show that she had Lupus but she was diagnosed with it because my dad has it and she has similar symptoms. She also has Acid Reflux, Fibromyalgia, and several other health problems. My sister was diagnosed as having Fibromyalgia shorty after her doctors put her on a double dose of Prilasec for her Acid Reflux. One of the side effect is similar to Fibromyalgia. I would love to learn as much as I can to help my family and others suffering from Illness and Di eases. I am not sure how much my own family will listen to me, so far they havn't;t, they believe their Doctor really cares about them and would not give them any drugs that would be bad for them. Well I hope I didn't ramble on too much, Thanks to everyone for your good advice on questions I have posted, and as I learn more maybe I will be able to answer some of your questions. Thanks, Ben Renee Judkins <msfitnes01 wrote: I am 43 and the single mom of a son, age 22 and twodaughters, ages 12 and 5. I live in Keego Harbor,Michigan, near Pontiac.
