Guest guest
I am new to this group and have a question that maybe some or all of you have had to deal with at some point in time, so I am just asking for some advice. My Father has Lupus and several other Dieses that come along with it. My sister the doctor diagnosed her with Lupus because my dad has it and they could figure out what was wrong with her. She never actually tested posative for it after several tests. I have been reading a couple of Natural Healing books and have been visiting our local health food store. My problem is I have tried to explain to my parents and my sister that a lot of their health issues are caused by the medication they are on for other problems. I never told them to stop taking any medication just to try eating more Organic foods and drinking better water, and to possibly go visit a Homeopathic doctor, But they have all told me how much their doctor cares about them and how they would feel much better just doing what they are doing. I don't think I have been radical about any of this, I have just been trying to introduce them to a way of life that may be healthier for them. My dad is actually going in for surgury today for an ulcer in his stomach. They are removing half of his stomach. They all agree that this was caused by the medication he is taking but still want to make no changes. Have any of you been in a similar situation, and if so do you have any suggestions for me. Should I just leave them alone and let them take the medications they are taking and making them worse, or should I keep trying to convince them to change a little here and there? Thanks everyone,
Guest guest
Hi Welcome! I hope your father's surgery goes well. I am sorry it has gotten to that point. The Gerson Therapy boasts a 100 percent cure rate with lupus. www.gerson.org I can personally say to you, that when I have at least 3 fresh juices a day and avoid wheat and refined sugar, that I have NO LUPUS symptoms. Your father needs a good juicer. (Carrot and spinach juice is excellent.)You are a good daughter to help him. Please keep us posted. There are definitely ways he can help himself. These include the gerson therapy or a modified version, etc (www.drday.com). I'm sorry, but the doctors are only good for acute lupus crises. As for the ulcer, he needs an organic yogurt daily to put back the good bacteria which is what he is missing (because of the standard american diet and his medicines). Look into these things: the Gerson therapy Johanna budwig diet Book " breaking the vicious cycle " by Elaine Gottschall It is truly about a change in diet and learning how the body works. Thanks for joining! Kelly Kelly
Guest guest
I feel for you because I have been where you are. Years ago for instance I almost wrote a diet book for weight loss. during this time also my inlaws wanted to lose weight so I explained to them exactly how to do it. They did not follow my advice but instead went to a nutritionist and paid $1200 for his advice which it turned out was identical to mine. go figure? Last year my wife was in a softball accident that blew her lower eye socket and damaged the pupil of the eye, it won't dialate. It also caused her eyesite to worsen from 300 to 375. I pleaded with her to get on some products, I had some in mind, but she would not preffering to not mix nutrition with steroid drops if you can belief that. It was very frustrating because she watches me help people with medical problems daily. She has seen the letters of success and gratitude so she knows what I preach works, yet she would not do what I suggested. Well, she had her surgery which of course I could not correct and continued with the steroid drops. Finally the eye doctor said there is nothing more that I can do! At that point she was willing to listen. I put her on a regimen of nutraceuticals and within 2 months her eue site improved to 150 and the pupil has closed some but is no9t quite completely healed. I honestly don't think it will heal completely because it is not completely round. The eye doctor was stunned and completely perplexed as to what happened with her eye and suggested all kinds of reason. She has never told him what I had her do. She has since not continued what I suggested but the eye is stable at least. The point is in both cases, the people you are closest to are always the last to listen. If you do not hold the degree they figure you do not know what you are talking about. Doctors are like god to them. My wifes attitude has now changed of course and I have recently helped a friend of her's who is a little more open minded to alternatives. I guess little by little you can make suggestions but in the end something may have to happen before they change their attitudes. What has to happen seems to be different for everyone. And in some cases, they never come around. In one case I know of, a terminal cancer patient, one of my associates gave some nutraceuticals to, after that person died, they found the un-opened containers in the cabinets. Hope your father's surgery goes well. Guest guest
I go through this with my mom and another older couple that I take care of .... they are on so many medications that they can't even function properly.... but still they won't even try not taking the medications.... and now their having to get new medicatons to help with the side affects of the others .... it just makes me so sad to see what they go through...but I don't know what to do for them. They believe they need all of these pills the doctor gives them. Guest guest
Hi, I guess Im a lurker on this group, but I had to respond to your post. I go through the same things with my sisters, my husband, my own children and friends. My father died because of complications from his rhuematoid arthritis medication. My sister is on these same meds. I have thyroid disease and epilepsy. My children have epilepsy, thyroid disease and celiac disease, to name a few. I could fill a book (actually many) with all the physician errors I have dealt with. I was just about bed ridden when I decided to go off my meds and started changing my diet. I now go to a homeopath and an MD who practices integrative medicine. These experiences have totally changed my life and I guess in general have made me a bit paranoid when it comes to the medical profession. I want to tell everyone who will listen, especially my friends and family. So far its not going so well. I have learned that people become very dependent on their meds. We are constantly bombarded with "consult your physician " before we try anything new. In essence we (as a society) are brainwashed into thinking that a doctor knows everything. Common sense is seldom used. People want a quick and easy fix, also a socially accepted one. Telling people that they need to get off so many prescriptions and change their diet is not happily accepted. I think they want their dr to be right, because its easier that way. They dont have to worry about what to eat, Ive also had many people tell me they cant afford to eat organically even though they spend a ton on fast food, cookies, soda and other junk. It is very frustrating! I started out searching for information because my dr said I had RA just because it ran in my family. My tests came out negative and the symptoms didn't fit, so I started reading everything I could get my hands on. When I first shared my info with my family--I was so excited, thinking I could help them, especially my sister, so she wouldn't end up like my dad. I was really shocked when I was met with so much opposition! For quite a while I got really depressed. And I guess I still a little sad over it all. But I guess i have come to terms with it. There is only so much you can do. Now, I just do my own thing and I pray for them every night. Good luck, Carla
Guest guest
Hi, Welcome to the group! (Better late than never! This has been a wierd and busy summer for me!) I would like to suggest you invite your parents and sister to become a part of our group here. I am a survivor of colo-rectal cancer. I should have died three years ago according to my doctors. But here I still am and cancer free. There are others here with Lupus and other autoimmune diseases. There is alot of good sharing of alot of beneficial information here. If something has worked to bring any of us relief or reverse our conditions, we share it. If we find information that may be beneficial to someone else, we post it. Kelly is on top of everything and works long and hard to find information and pass it on to the group. I offer my nutritional experience and expertise to anyone and everyone I think I can help in some way. Amelia is full of great information too. I could go on and on. If your parents and sister don't want to become part of the group, perhaps they wouldn't mind just reading through the archives to see that there are many other options to the medications that do often times cause more problems than the problems they are prescribed for. Then more medications are prescribed to fix those problems. The new medications start causing new problems of their own. And it becomes a vicious cycle. At any rate, I wish you luck. Even if your family doesn't choose to visit our site here, you can still come away with alot of useful information from all the sharing we do here. Guest guest
I have another suggestion - reverse psychology! If you tell your family that since they are comfortable with their medications, that's what they should stick with. Explain that they are not ready for the benefits of alternative therapies and nutrition (explain what the benefits are also). This is one of the cardinal rules of closing a sale (I'm not a salesman, but I've read the Dale Carnegie books!). I've seen this work in my own metabolic nutrition business, which I do for the sole purpose of helping people. It saved my life from a cancer I was not supposed to have survived. I didn't try this method, but my dear friend, Dr. Silva, Ph.D. does this quite often. And her sincere purpose is in helping people too, not in making a sale. When a person is faced with the prospect of losing something, that is the point where they usually want it the most. It may not work with your family, but then again you never know until you try! Good luck. --- mjs_daddie <mjs_daddie wrote: > I am new to this group and have a question that > maybe some or all of > you have had to deal with at some point in time, so > I am just asking > for some advice. Guest guest
Carla, I just joined this group and how I can compare notes with you. I was DX with MS 8 years ago and then 1 year ago my son started having seizures. Everything I have been thorough I thought God this is why this all happened to me help my son. WRONG. It drove me insane. A 8 year old you would think you have complete control, WRONG. Everyone that was around found a need to keep feeding him sugar. I finally had to let go of the situation. Overtime I have found things that he could deal with easily. Then about me from losing my sight to complete numbness and loss of control of my body. I thought when I found this alternative healing to help cure the MS problem, I thought everyone would be ecstatic. Very few were. Which totally through me for a loop. I thought I would be able to help a ton of people especially all those with MS. It was tough at times because I toke it so personal. But I am learning how to make my circle of like minded people. And what others think is becoming less important. Ginajinxie1945 wrote: Hi, I guess Im a lurker on this group, but I had to respond to your post. Guest guest
HI Gina, Welcome. Do you have your sight back now and is it as good as before? Or are you using a voice machine. I am so glad you were so strong and smart to be able to look at nature as the healing factor you needed. I would love to hear the things you did to heal yourself and your son. It would seem that there is a block with some people. They want to believe that traditional medicine is like a father figure and if they do what they are told, that is all they can do. I think it comforts them. It is wildly uncomfortable to think that most practicing physicians are so ignorant, but about three years ago I began thinking that. Surely everyone is ignorant about something, but doctors should try to understand the big picture along with the tiny mechanisms the body uses to heal itself. They are just beginning to learn the importance of candida in illnesses, some doctors at least. Welcome again! Kel -
Guest guest
Hi Carla, I'm just getting caught up on the last couple of weeks here. But I know exactly how you feel about your family. It always seems that those that we love and want to help the most are the least likely to listen to what we have to say about the things we have found to help them. I had the same issues in my family and still do. My dad doesn't have to be a diabetic, but he still is. My mom doesn't have to have heart disease, but she still does. You are right about people thinking their doctors know everything too. The sad reality is that 2 million people a year have adverse effects from doctors prescribed medications and medical treatments. Another half million a year actually die from these mistakes, including my best friend's mom! (She is sitting pretty now with all the money she won from a law suit, but she would much rather have her mom here than the money). I was appalled on more than one occassion when I worked at a local (and pretty big) hospital to hear doctors actually joke and laugh about leaving sponges inside of surgery patients and other horrifying things of that nature. And they are laughing about it?!!! It really took my cancer and the things my nutrition and supplements did for me to help save my life that made my family sit up and take notice. They had to have that first hand experience to take me seriously! And even still, my dad continues to be a diabetic and my mom still deals with her heart disease! I hope you can find a way to get through to your family before a tragedy comes along. You are dealing with so many health issues in so many of your family members. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Prayer really works miracles sometimes too (then sometimes it doesn't. I guess everything is according to God's will, not our own).
