Guest guest
This multi-supplement, sounds suspiciously close (perhaps a bit high) to containing future governement limits on nutrient dose-levels we'll be allowed to take. JP - Jerry Mittelman aaHealth and Healing ; aaDr.Clark Group ; aaDental ; aaaAlternative Medicine Tuesday, November 23, 2004 9:55 AM Vitamins Multiple-Vitamin, Mineral Combination Reduces the Risk of Cancer in Men In this French study 13,000 men and women aged 35 to 60 were placed on a supplement for an average of 7.5 years. The supplement included Vitamin C 120mg, Vitamin E 45 IU, Beta-Carotene 10,000 IU, Selenium 100mcg, and Zinc 20mg. The incidence of cancer among men was significantly lower in the supplemented group than in the placebo group. The study is published in the November 22nd, 2004 issue of the Archives of Internal Medicine. Commentary by Jerry Hickey, R.Ph. The men had more protection than the women possibly because men have lower antioxidant levels in general than women according to these researchers (of course this is in France, and is not possibly, representative of women in the USA). I would add the following to protect women and decrease their risk of cancer - Lycopene, Folic Acid, Tocotrienols, and Gamma-Tocopherol along with the previous formula. The men also would have benefited from these additional ingredients. Guest guest
Vitamins: I finally found a doctor who will work with me on the healthier side. He did say if they cannot keep my levels as normal as possible that I will have to have meds, but wants to work with me as much as possible concerning supplements and a healthier lifestyle. I will be working with a herb shop for vitamins and some counseling and the docs will monitor my blood levels along with counseling too. Once I found out what helps me the best I will then share it with you all. How I found these docs was that I called a herb shop and asked what docs would they recommend and know they will work with patients who wish to use more of a " natural healing " process:-) My previous doc said everything was in my head and was extremely anger at me for even trying to do anything else besides popping a pill. The way I look at it...he wasn't getting his commission from the drug companies because I wouldn't go on the 20 meds a day. I was to pay for his next BMW...in his mind. He was not concerned about my welfare whatsoever! So far this new practice is. I will be seeing a chiropractor/nutritionist in about 2 weeks (which is in the same practice). I will only being seeing him for nutritional value and not chiropractic needs. I keep on hearing over and over to see a chiropractor because they are more on the nutritional side. Watch out though, many insurance will not pay for these visits. I hope and pray that I have finally found the practice who can really help me and IS truly interested in my health and not their pocketbook. I also pray that someone will benefit off of this info. Blessings, Jaymie
Guest guest
Jaymie should be an inspiration to us all in doing what she has done here; trusting her own instincts and seeking out the help she needs simply by asking a question, and for not paying for her medical doctor's new BMW! Chiropractors are big advocates of nutrition and alternative therapies. First Fitness (my supplement company) has had literally hundreds of chiropractors (and other medical doctors as well) coming into the company over the last several years. Several of them have become my good friends and I highly value their advice and opinions (of course, First Fitness is like one big, nationwide family to begin with, another reason I love this company so much). Keep up the good work Jaymie. And continue to follow your gut instincts. You know you better than any doctor does!
