Does anyone have advice about getting a dog? I am

unsure if I should get one for my son 4, and daughter,

16. Do they really lower people's blood pressure?

Hearing of any experiences you've all had would be

helpful. Thanks, Kelly

Kel, I used to hate dogs, never had one before, then my kids convinced me to get one. I couldn't get over how cute this puppy was and now, I love her to death and couldn't picture life without her! Just do a lot of research about what type to get (personalities, etc.). We ended up getting a Jack Russell/ German Sheperd mix. Amelia

Hi,

We have a standard poodle(the big one) and absolutely love him. Our children

are 1 and 2 and our dog is 2and a half. We got a standard dog because they

are hypo-allergenic. They don't have fur they have wool which if you brush

out you can spin and knit with. Also they don't shed and are amaxing with

children. My two love their dog and use him as a jungle gym and he plays

right along with them. Good luck on your dog purchase.

Melanie

P.S. yes they do lower blood pressure. My husband used to be on medication

for his blood pressure but does not need it any longer since we have gotten

our dog.

I want to add that I think they are great for depression. My dog Shelby is

my therapist (ha ha). No, seriously, she makes me feel so much better just

by her peaceful presence and unconditional affection.
