Guest guest
Relax and Renew: Withdraw from the Senses One of the tenets of yogic philosophy is that the senses — taste, sight, smell, etc. — can distract us from what's really important, which is connecting with our authentic being. But there's something else that happens when we withdraw from some of our senses: We relax. Try this sometime today. Go somewhere quiet or play some soft music to drown out external noise. Lay on the floor or on some pillows and cover your eyes with an eye pillow or a folded hand towel. This gentle pressure will help prevent any light from reaching your vision. In the absence of sensory stimulation, your mind will eventually let go and release. Try spending fifteen minutes to half an hour in this makeshift sensory deprivation chamber. Then notice the sense of renewal and energy you feel as you emerge.
