Eating bread one gains not just weight

The most consistent naturists do not eat bread, cereals and other grain products or it happens very seldom. Is it possible that bread and all grains, this basic meal of agriculture peoples is a mistake of mankind? Are two thirds of forests cleared to plant grains are extinguished in vain? Various grains such as rice, wheat, rye, barley, corn and millet are now a common food for humans and animals all over the world. What can be offered instead? Famous physiologist I.V. Michurin wasn’t a naturist but he claimed that nuts are “bread of future”. It seems that he was right.

We got used to conduct experiments first on animals and only then project the results on medicine and hygiene. But the experiment with grains has been done simultaneously on humans and agricultural animals. And the results turned out to be completely identical. With increased amount of high-protein forage, which is used to achieve higher production in modern cattle breeding, the number of microelements per unit of forage decreases two to three times more than by feeding cattle with silage or hay. The reasons for microelement deficiency (cooper, zinc, manganese, iodine, cobalt, etc.) are always the same. Most rapidly and most often the deficit appears when pigs and poultry are fed with grain forage and are held in captivity deprived of the ability to graze and eat at least partially grass or green leaves. When animals suffer from diseases meat products turn out to be of low quality – they lack the same elements that used to be insufficient in animal’s food.

Fighting for high milk yields with the help of concentrated supplements results in drastic decrease of microelements that in its turn causes thyroid gland disease (goiter) in calves that are fed with such milk.It can be concluded that one should not stick to any mono-diet, even if it is popular and exotic, especially if the number of foods is highly restricted and it contains a lot of grains, like for example the diet of D. Ozawa.Naturists are quite aware that grain diets, especially those that contain few fruits and vegetables definitely lead to arthritis and guarantee a number of serious ailments. Doctor Max Wormbrand, the author of the book “Arthritis is curable”, a well-know US naturopath who saved thousands of patients from suffering and full disablement including patients with acute arthritis, says that bread and other grains (oats, etc.) are not recommended for arthritis patients and should be limited or completely excluded from the diet.Once I opened

the magazine “Abroad” and found out that the article of a dietology professional was reprinted under the name “Arthritis secrets”. If it is a secret for him then how can he be a professional? In October 1976 I visited a conference on therapeutic fasting in a clinic headed by J.S. Nikolaev. Speaking about nutrition Nikolaev gave a curious example. We had a lot of city cabs before revolution. Horses were fed oats since there was no grass on Moscow roads. In a year a horse became lame on all four legs that meant that it was affected by arthritis. Then it was sent to the village to graze and recover and instead a healthy horse was brought from there to the city; and in a year it would also suffer from arthritis. Isn’t it astonishing that pre-revolutionary cabmen were quite familiar with “arthritis secret” but professionals still have no idea about it?Herbert Shelton in “Orthotrophy” cites one of his colleagues probably thinking that one can’t say better. “One author

said “don’t eat more than two products that are rich in sugar and starch during one meal. When you eat bread with potato your starch intake is too high. The meal that consists of pea, bread, potato, sugar, cookies, and after-meal desserts must include a complex of vitamin B additives, some baking soda and the address of the nearest specialist on arthritis and other diseases.”Agriculture that was so enthusiastically developed in pre-scientific centuries leaded mankind to the dead end. Cultivated lands are increasingly affected by erosion and cause global ecological disaster. Modern agriculture provides us with foods, but they don’t have full-value nutrients for both humans and animals. The main disadvantage of grains is their protein that has unbalanced amino acids. It contains little amounts of indispensable amino acids such as lysine, threonine and tryptophan. So, you have to add animal products in the diet even if you don’t want to. Grains contain dispensable amino acids

in abundance. But they are useless since single components are absent - one can’t make a barrel without a single stave. The same happens with proteins, which are synthesized in our body after the food protein is decomposed into single components. Lysine deficit is the main reason for emaciation in developing countries where protein consumption is twice as low as in developed countries. The disadvantage of grain food is that its unbalanced protein affects normal protein construction in the body of humans and animals. It causes an increased need for food protein. Additionally, if these body requirements are not satisfied, grain protein becomes more toxic. Exactly this process can be observed in developing countries. While we try to find alternative protein sources extracting it out of petroleum, methanol and natural gas, there is a great lysine deficiency of 136 thousand tons. Lysine deficiency of animal forage is three times as much as by humans. Now about 40 thousand tons of

lysine is produced every year. But it is still expensive and can’t compete with soy supplements. It should be underlined that protein problem doesn’t exist among Papuans: those who don’t eat grains don’t have any protein, microelement and vitamin deficiency. It is interesting that lately researchers began studying Paleolithic diet. They believe that the diet of Stone Age may be the sample for modern people and can serve as a model for preventing certain diseases caused by modern diet. So, not only naturists are looking for a way back. Let it be just the way back to stone age and not to apes. It is evident that since that times the food composition has changed drastically but human genes remained the same. Obviously, this is a reason for some “civilization diseases”. Our ancestors didn’t have any grains in the diet: 65 % of it was fruits and vegetables and 35 % - meat of wild animals that contained only 5 % fat. But modern beef contains 25-30 % fat!Grain diet can lead

to another serious ailments. If a person has problems with digestion and suffers from the deficit of the enzyme that decomposes gluten (a protein contained in wheat, rye, barley and oats) this partly undecomposed protein poisons small intestines and makes the situation worse. All other main substances – proteins, fats and carbohydrates - cannot be digested and absorbed properly. In this case if a doctor manages to diagnose the disease it is prescribed to exclude grains from the diet and eat more fruits and vegetables together with meat and dairy products. It is allowed to eat gluten-free grains such as rice and corn, as well as soybeans and potato. Curiously, “gluten enteropathy” is diagnosed very seldom, first symptoms are often overlooked or explained wrongly: bread and porridge are our main foods, how can they be harmful?Ancient Hindus were more observant despite having no idea of biochemistry and gluten enteropathy. Once a well-known journalist and writer Juriy

Chernichenko wrote in “Pravda” that “in ancient Sanskrit, the father of many Hindu languages, wheat had a very disrespectful name, the most delicate translation would be “bread for uneducated”…Should the translation be delicate? Alexander Chuprun, 1991
