Guest guest
Where would I go about getting that free compost you speak of? Thanks I am planning on planting either tomorrow or monday. Big rainstorm coming our way Jay Hi Jay, You'd do much better to lose the miracle grow and use compost instead to improve your soil. Loosen it up, and mix in the compost. You can buy it by the bagful at any home/garden center, and lots of towns (I'm assuming you live in the US) offer it free to the residents. Good luck and Happy harvests, While digging my garden I have noticed how poor the soil is. It is so poor the grass barely grows, literally. The soil has cement rocks, stones. To fertilize it I have been putting miracle grow and coffee ground on it. I am planning to grow radish, beets, potatoes, peas, tomatoes, string beans, corn iceberg and grand ripids lettuce, large cherry tomatoes, okra, and parsely. Spaceing and fertilizing tips would be a great help. This is my first garden I also want to grow avocado... Can this be done?... I love avocada. Thanks for your time. Guest guest
Hmm, I don't know if you'll be able to plant by Monday, but if your town collects leaves and brush from the residents, they often compost it, and will let residents pick it up for free. Mine does, we filled the bed of a pickup truck with it! Call your town's public works dept., and ask if they do that. Even if you can't get it free, it's only about $2.00 for a big bag. Nothing is better for plants. Let me know if you have any luck. Where would I go about getting that free compost you speak of? Thanks I amplanning on planting either tomorrow or monday.
